The N94 hood would have been available on the 1970 cars after the hood was introduced. I do not know if the FAST guys check date codes? (They must not check thing's too close since Tom has wheel lip moldings on his T/A. ) The N94 hood would have been available for 1971 also. I am not aware of any that came factory on any 440-6 cars yet, but 340, 383 & Hemi cars are known.

Nah,
If it could have been ordered, then it's all good. There doesn't really even have to have been one made, just needs to be known that it was an available option.
Frankly, I was just really thinking about the air cleaner situation. Because it would be important that the hood be sealed to the air cleaner, I am concerned about the height and how much fabrication I would have to do to make it work.

IIRC, Dave Dudek put one on his FC7 Hemi Challenger when he found it could be ordered and ran it in FAST series. You should be able to run it Mike. I'm thinking it would use the T/A base.

I believe the B5 Blue Six Pack Challenger was run in Pure Stock Drags with a T/A hood & air cleaner. Years ago I ran a 440 Six Pack in my 1969 Hemi RR... air cleaner matched the Air Grabber hood fine. I believe the basic interfaces were always maintained if possible... XS

Hey I just thought of it. Paul Petcou runs one of those hoods on his Challenger for P/S. I'll drop him a line...

I have never seen the car again but in 1970 while visiting Mr. Norm's Grand Spalding Dodge there was one on the street in front of the dealership with a dealer plate on it. Hard to forget as it really stood out. It was Panther Pink with the flat black T/A hood, black vinyl top, black rear window louvers, black side stripes, black console pistol grip 4 speed interior. It was an awesome looking car.

Didn't they install T/A hoods when they didn't have any shakers in stock?
Tim, there has been a story that T/A hoods were used when there was a factory shortage of Shaker hoods but that has since been proven to be a myth.
Joe
Thanks Joe, I hadn't heard that. Tim

"El Hemi" was restored by Resto Rick a member here. It was believed to also be the first N94 prototype hood made if my recolections are correct................

Shaker hoods weren't replaced with T/A hoods in 1970. But...
If I recall correctly, someone had said they ordered a 71 car with the N94 T/A hood & received it with an N96 Shaker hood along with a letter of apology indicating a temporary lack of T/A hoods in 71.
I suspect that is where the shaker vs. T/A hood myth started.

Being an idiot I did not take any pictues. I was too busy saying "Holy Crap" every 5 seconds. The owner, Charlie, is a super nice guy and has an amazing collection of cars. This is the only Mopar in it currently.
