Here's a great video of the Missile at the 1972 NHRA Winternationals.

Enjoy!

That's a crime right there..

What a horrible feeling it must have been after getting excited about the possibility of finding your old car and discovering that.

Stewart , Love all your pic's please keep them coming !!!

It needs to be restored regardless.... so at least its found?
Very cool.
Whats with the lines coming out of the tires? Did she pump up at the end of the track??

Those "lines" are much like speedometer cables, they measure the wheel speed of both the front and rear tire, to see if there is any wheel slippage "spinning"

The Missile crew was one of the first drag racers to use data acquisiton - they carried a 8track wire recorder to measure different functions. The data package, at that time weighed almost 100 pounds :-) versus today, the size of a small calculator.

Does the Mike Fons car count? I took this picture in 1972 at Dragway 42..AHRA GrandNationals?

I had a long conversation with Bob Marshall at that race. He had just switched from running a Hemi powered "Willys" gasser to a super/stock Dodge..

maybe my memory is getting bad..but he still had the gasser and was getting ready to switch

I know this is sorta unrelated but it is related in a personal way to me. While at the '73 NHRA Springnationals and watching Don Carlton mow down the Pro/Stock field, I got an emergency page from the timing tower to come to the tower. My dad had just passed away. June 10,1973

"sparky" or electro-cat - same person, Ron Kellen. The resident data guy.
He came over from Chrysler Huntsville and worked on stock cars and drag racing.

WELL Now, you seem to know so much even though you haven't been NEAR it currently.
Yeah hi, I'm the daughter of the guy who owns it.
So look, apperently you don't know the whole bunch. Basically it was in a storage unit, untill thieves broke in and decided to steal parts and bits of the Missile. That's why it was beside our home for a long time, so we could safely guard it and make sure no more parts were stolen. Got it? Get it? Good.
Anymore questions and all you have to do is PM me.
