Is any one repoping the clip on wire guide that goes on the backing plate behind the booster for power brake B Bodies? Mine is rusted up and very pitted. I see the wire guides for starter wires being repoped.

I don't think they're being re-popped yet. I cleaned mine up and dipped it in liquid electrical tape and it looks like new. I bought the liquid electrical tape at Napa.

Mines pretty crusty. I don't think even sand blasting it would make it look good. And it's the wrong one for car. Car has power brakes the guide is for a manuel brake car. Guess i'll keep my eye on ebay for one used. Thanks

It might be longer on a power brake car....someone has to have been reproducing then at one time....I got mine from a friend and it was new when he gave it to me.....

A little further digging & I came up with this at Year One....hold your ankles...
$45 big ones!?!?

Says its for a manual brake car though???

Type in part # FW5A in the search box....

Thats the short one for manuel brakes. I'll keep an eye out in the for sale section and ebay for one.

I don't have a Bendix booster i have the Midland. The midland is a larger circle diameter but shorter front to back. The correct guide clips on backing plate and stands up farther to hold the wiresup higher to clear the taller booster.

bump this back up.
I was walking around a local junkyard today and found out 1969-70 B-body disc brake cars use the same wire guide as manual drum brake cars. @ 3-3/4" long
as far as power drum brake cars , I found none

Maybe mine is just to worn out. It cliped fine on the manuel backing plate but just flops around on the power backing plate. Tape measure don't lie so i guess there the same. My car is power drum with midland booster.

I may go back down there this weekend and look around for a power drum brake car with the clip and see if it's any different.

Chris, No I did not get the booster. I have my doubts it is even rebuildable. Been sitting right where it's at for 20-25 years at least.

Doug....my power drum brake one is the same as Bill pictured....3 3/4" total length.
'68 GTX. Now...I'm not saying that the clip is 100% originally from that car, but I'm sure it was as it was in the boxes of the stuff removed from the car before I got it....in the box with the booster.

This one for E-bodies with manual brakes
http://www.billrolikenterprises.com/proddetail.asp?prod=800

or this one for E-bodies

I think mine is just to worn out. It looks just like the one pictured. It seemed to clip fine onto the manuel brake bracket where it just hangs down. But when i try to clip it on the power brake bracket which aims it out not down it just flops around. Maybe there the same and mine is just junk. I'd like to get another one but i don't no about 45 bucks for one.

BTW,What I've found out so far

They are used on at least 66 thru 1970 B-body. AND there are actually 2 different lengths. This one and a second one approx 1" shorter
And there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which car received which length. Be it manual +/or power drum or power disc brakes.
