Info needed , Hi I have just purchased a 1970 Ply Duster Drag Car body in white. This car appears to have alot if history in all three sactioning bodys if the early '70s NHRA, IHRA, AHRA. I would like to find printed info to document this car, Race results, pics etc.or anyone that might remember this car. I am trying to determime if this cars history will add enough value to it warrant a correct restoation. I would appreiciate any help. The body was sold to Colletti Chy/Ply 6-25-70 and was raced by Richard Shippley from Balt. Maryland. Richard raced the car a few years and then traded it for a 70 Challenger, the second owner was Ben Disibbo from Bluefield WV. I was told that the Colletti Family owned 3-4 speed shops. This car was supposedly backed by Chrysler. This was run in the SS/IA Class. The cars number was 1564. Thanks Dan

It is a shame that Richard just passed away a few months ago I went to the viewing and they had a pic of it there.I am sure if richard was around he would give you some history of the car.I will ask my dad to see if he knows or has pics of the car as he raced with rich around that time.

I owned one of the Riddler Team cars ('72 Road Runner SS/KA w/400).

I may still have some of the teams marketing materials.

That's a cool Duster! Look at that second paint job!

That would be a fun one to restore to "As Raced"

Was the car originally a white car? Was it a body in white or a normal production car?

Hi and thanks for all your help, I just purchased this car and got it home a few weeks ago, I came real close to cutting it and putting a strut front end on it. But now with eveyones help, the plan is to restore it to it's original condition. I am not the swiftest on the computer (stuck in the 60s) so if anyone would like to call 330-316-4407 or mail Dan Sukosd 8491 Justus Ave. SW Navarre Ohio 44662 or email sukosd@verizon.net I do know how to use pony express. Thanks the info has been great the pictures are neat! I will post pics as soon as I learn how.

Bodies in white came with an MSO?
I thought an MSO was only needed for a car with a VIN.
I once owned a body in white Duster, no VIN, no MSO (or if there was one it was never passed along).

My Horizon was a BIW. Herb McCandless and Chick DeNinno, who built the car, both have never said anything about an MSO.

A BIW was just a "part" through Mopar Performance/Direct Connection, just like the DP Challengers of today.

An MSO is for any vehicle that would not have a title. Yes there typically is a vin or serial number in the case of Chrysler bodies in white they did not come with a dash so no vin tag

Are you sure there's not a VIN, or VIN stamping on the cowl and core support? Is there a VIN on the MSO?
All new cars with VINs come with MSOs, not titles. Titles are issued by the states they are sold in. The MSO is turned in to the states DMV and the title is then issued. There is no reason to have a MSO if there is not a VIN.
There's no doubt your car is well known enough to deserve an 'as raced' resto.

Man neat car! I'm sure glad you decided against cutting the front end, a restoration is the ONLY way I'd go with a known race history like that one does!
