Cool find. Their SS/IA car may or may not be a different car than the Stock Eliminator car. Those classes were more similar to each other in that era than they are now, so it would be a good idea to get rulebooks from that era and try to "date" modifications you find on the car that would move the car "up" to SS from Stock.
Most of the Stock/SS cars were picked up from dealerships, or in some cases bought off the street; a BIW would be a pretty special effort for those classes at that time. I'd start looking at the body very carefully for weight movement, omitted items, and clever modifications. Look for aluminum fasteners, check the wheelbase & wheel location, engine location, and the floor, especially at the rear. You may find some lead-filled tail lamps like my car, or a rear bumper that's way heavier than the front.
Keep us posted on what you find!

Thanks forthe info my deck lid is very heavy. I'll check it out. As for the rear trunk area it is gone due to the four link and tubs.

I have seen that picture before with a caption that John Diana was the man.

I may have a Super Stock and Drag Racing Mag from the early 70's with that car in it! I believe John Dianna was driving it IIRC.

I think that you will find the person standing beside the G/SA is Mark Coletti Joe's son.

The Duster in the photographs provided by CheapStreetDuster and the Les Welch Color Photography link posted by SixPakDodge is a car I saw listed in an Auto Trader style of magazine sometime in 1986. The seller was located in central North Dakota. I traveled up to look at the car but chose not to purchase it.

The car had been run as a stock eliminator with a 340 and an automatic. The orange-white-blue paint was looking very good for its age. The 4 slotted aluminum wheels were on the car.

Several months later a friend called looking for that type of car so I passed along the photos I had taken along with contact info.

My friend purchased the car. The orange-white-blue paintjob was repainted yellow. That Duster has not rolled out of his garage in ten years.
