Time for a new converter after balloning my last one. Have my eyes on either edge or precsion, leaning toward precsion at the moment from a guy at work that had one and loved it. Its for a small block/904 abody 2.76 mainly 4.10 gears for racing. Looking to pay 650 or below. Any thoughts or other companies I need to look at before I buy?

For that budget, I'd call Dynamic converters and get a $595 9.5 verter...

here is what he sent me..
If you are looking for a trans-brake compatible converter, I have a new/never installed one from JW Transmissions. I ran a similar one with a little less stall for years in my footbrake only 2,850 lb 360 W-2 Challenger. I think it flashed somewhere between 4,000 and 4,500, but i don't remember exactly. This one was suppose to be a little looser but I never got around to using it. I started racing a Dart Sport with a 904 several years ago.

This is from a Sept. '09 price sheet.

50432ES TF727 8" Converter W/Spec. Sprag 4300-5200 887.68 986.31

If interested I can sell it for $550.00 including shipping in the U.S.

10" Turbo Action Super Street converter is $445 from Mancini Racing (they only list a 727, but the 904 should be the same or close in price). I had one of these with a very similar setup as yours and it 60 footed at the bottom of the chart for what ET and Speed my car ran.

I can 100% reccomend it.

THats the converter that went 1.40 60 foot behind my brothers 540ish hp Cuda on 275 drag radials. Great converter. However, T/A did mention that we were a little over the converters hp rating. They said we should step up to the race version which physically works the same but it has a little better parts to work with the hp of the car. Unfortunately its like $1000. The one mentioned above has worked great for 3 hard years on the street and the track.


10.53 @ 125mph. 1.37 60 foot. Caltracs and Monoleafs, AFCO shocks.

Heads by INDIO MOTOR MACHINE; IMM.
CP Pistons, PC Carbs.

Thanks for all the replies. I should have stated this is a street car 90% of the time with 2.76 rearend gears driven almost daily and plenty of interstate driving only running 2500-2700rpm with my 29.5inch tires. Im looking for one that gives decent flash stall(3kish) but still tight enough to not cause heat issues. Sorry for miss leading. I do race it with 4.10gears every other weekend or so but its not the main purpose for the car.
