The IBS-4014 type numbers are only on the aluminum tag attached [or not] to the distributor

Were the aluminum tags originally flat or rounded fitting the curvature of the housing?

Everyone of the Dual Point Dist. Tags I have all have the shape of the round side of the Distributor body. This includes the NOS Dual Point for a 1970, the tag is put under the clip for the Dist. Cap. I would imagine the tags were made and stamped flat and then rounded to the body of a Distrubutor.
