Hey Diablo the motor that SSR has had the same Alky set up on it. Allen who owned the motor was going 7.70 - 7.60's in a tube chassis Dodge Stratus that weighed 2350lbs with the Terminator setup. I sold him a pair of custom Dominators that flowed 1140 wet and he picked up close to 2 tenths and about 4-6mph over alcohol. The motor ran much better on gas. I guess the tunnel ram liked gas better.. I know your pulling trucks like Alky much better. The motor that I bought from Todd the 635ci with the same intake as your ran alky also and made great power...

cool motor. i don't understand the carbs either. Most NSS sanctioning bodies if they allow a sheet metal intake will allow any 4150 style carb. You can get a non dominator 4bbl that flows 1000 cfm. 770's might kill that motor.

Who's the Einstein that came up with those rules.....Bill Holt....????

Looks nice. What horsepower do you think it will attain? Why did you go with showcar spark plug wires instead of race wires? Saving money? Not knocking you, but it's amazing they allow sheetmetal intakes and not Dominators. Seems restricting. You guys race a ton around where I live. I will try to make a show. My bud races a big 60's Ford with an intake that looks like that, but with a little different type carbs. Good luck.. Looks like you did your homework..

TAYLOR 409 10MM race wires are not show poodle wires.

Isn't this the 572-588 T/S motor you've been working on? Why wouldn't you run 2 dominators?

its over 600 cubes.

605ci

Yup That's over 600 CI.Very astute

I know my engine ran gas before and the intake was made for gas. I'm pretty sure it would make more power on Gas with that intake. The plenum and runners are a bit small i think. And all that alchy being shot out is taking up a lot of space for the air. If i change the intake i think it would be better with this alchy set up. But your right most pullers run alchy. If i had two carbs i would try it but then again i don't have the $$$ to not use this injection set up.

Since you are running the sheetmetal intake, might as well get as much performance as possible. I would go to a set of Holley HP 850's. They are legal in NMCA on the 9.25 and quicker cars as well as the 422 circuit. poppaj

Nobody wants to see what carters would look like on there.
You win.

Very nice mill btw.

so will that engine inevitably be restricted by carb size...when its all said and done?

what is the compression?

id love to run in those classes...
cheapst.

Not only that but the whole left bank of the motor won't see any fuel till the vac secondaries open? How is that going to work?

I thought about that and it made me start to worry about the engine. They are gonna have to be VERY careful i think not to lean something out. Engines like that can be fussy with its fuel..... I would watch the EGT temps

Not sure what that means. I think Chris knows exactly what he's doing.

dont the hemi ss/ah guys use the same carbs,
as long as the primaries and secondaries are jetted correctly i see no problem, and fuel pressure at 8.5psi. motor was run with one 1050 dominator and made sick power.
this motor will see 1480 cfms worth of carbs, running 94 square with c16 or 99 square with q 16 VP fuel.
unless i'm missing something.
my 588 runs 2 carter 750's with .119 square with no issues on my Altronics O2 alert. 13.1 afr.

Jetting has nothing to do with it. With vacuum pods the secondaries will not open at idle or at low RPM no load conditions. With a tunnel ram each barrel of the carb basically feeds one cylinder. With sideways mounted dominators the linkage is set up to open the right and left barrels at the same rate. With SS/AH manifolds cross ram manifolds the plenum is completely different. I wont say anything more on this, IMO it's not going to work Good luck with it.
