I suppose the design of the skid plate has a lot to do with it, but I jack my car up with a standard floor jack and it slides under the plate [ barely ]. I actually have the "T" bars set a little low as well. My tires are 245x45x17 and are 26 inches in diameter. Like most cars of that era it came with rather smallish '70 series 14 inch tires and wheels. FWIW I think a well designed skid plate can add a bit of strength and stiffness to the "K" without adding a lot of weight.
Do you have a picture of your skid plate? That would be very helpful.
Thanks.

We had a 440 Source 7 Qt pan in our 73 Challenger when it had a 440 in it and it was pretty scared up. Never leaked, but it wasn't pretty. I know the boy "found" one of those raised service station fuel tank covers ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/whistling.gif) ;even with the 340 in it now we avoid those things because of the headers.

That's not a skid plate, it's an atomic blast deflector! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eeek.gif)

I changed out a deep Milodon pan for the road race 31580.
It is a killer piece and I have no worries about bumps or oil problems. Trap doors, the works.
I suppose a crank scraper would be good to take care of oil control concerns but I live with a tray and no regrets.
I have no pics but it tucks super well with no pan.
Pricey, at 450.00 including the pickup but I won't be buyng another pan for a LONG time.
I want my fair share
