There are guys here who swear by holley, by Damon, by Barry Grant , by Eddy, by Carter and they all say to get the best performence use there brand. They all run good when properly tuned. We can have the same agument about tires, gas, oil the color of the sky. Either CFM will work well if tuned correctly. Buy what ever brand your more familiar with to make tuning it easier for you.

That's a well put tought......

I was thinking a Street Dominator under that, I'v heard only good about this intake ....have you ?
Thanks you guys for all your comments

I'm don't know how high the dominator manifold is,but I'm running a Edelbrock RPM and I am very happy with that intake and a 950 holleyDP carb setup.

The BB sd intake is a tried & true performer enough so that they reintroduced it, the RB one anyhow. I have a SB one going on a 408. It has a very low profile, single plane and it has smaller 318/magnum sized ports. I see them somewhat regularly for $60-75. Might not be the "perfect" intake but it wont be far from it and you sure cant beat the price. Oh also its a spread bore if you are going w a Demonsizzler prepped thermoquad .

Either one should work fine.

I've got the only good working 750cfm Edelbrock AFB on Moparts. No problems with mine and the Duster runs very well with it.

1970 FE5 Duster 360/904/3.91's SOLD 1973 TB3 SpaceDuster 340/4spd/4.10's SOLD Moparless for now but when the opportunity is right I'll have another one.

I had a 750 Eddy over my 340 Duster , and ran without problems, was a great carb I think, or they seem to love Dusters...

"Demonsizzler" is his handle & he is a member here on Moparts out of Atlanta and he is our thermoquad guru.He is busy & can be hard to get ahold of but it's worth the wait. Thermoquads imo have the finest metering system of any oe carb (along w the gm quadrajet )plus the small primaries/large secondaries combo is awesome but the carb CAN be troublesome to setup but is fine once it is setup properly & Demonsizzler can easily solve that issue w his extensive expertise.

I've had good luck with Eddy carbs but find the 800 i have now is being a bear to get the right fuel mix through out the RPM range. I'm thinking of bitting my tounge and going with an 800 DP. But i will get a new one not one somebody has been messing with. If i do go with the holley any jet recomendations? 68 HP440 i asume is stock comp as i haven't pulled the heads. Heads apear to be stock as i see no obvious porting. Voodoo 604 cam. 727 w/2800to 3200 stall 3;55 gears B Body Eddy perfomer intake. MP electronic ignition with chrome box. Manifolds with 2.5 pipes hemi style mufflers

Do a search on this site & see how many Eddy problems you find guys struggling with, vs. how many holley problems guys struggle with. Now balance that against how many more guys are using holleys! I'm sure an expert can make either work fine, but I know I went through two Eddy 750's and never got either of them to satisfy me. I then bought an old Holley 3310 750 VS off ebay and immediately my 383 ran its best.

Nascar guys use holley based carbs, Prostock guys use holley based carbs, Walk through the staging lanes at any drag strip & count Holleys vs. Eddys. Its no accident. I think the Holley design just measures and reacts to a vacuum signal better than the old carter design, which really comes into play when you throw long duration camshafts, extended initial timing, headers and such into the mix.

My choice for a street 408 would be a holley 770 avenger series, but a 3310 750 would work very well also.

The Holley 750VS is about as trouble-free as a carb can get. Out of the box. I don't recall of the OP said if the car was auto or 4-speed though.
