Any old times remember this track?..originally a 1/4 mile and then 1/8 mile at the end of it's life... my question is back in the 70's did they run 1000'?

You know, now that you mention it it may have been 1,000 foot for a while. Mostly, though, I remember it as an eighth miler.
Meander (Youngstown Drag City) was also right around a thousand foot or so, as I recall. That's the place where you went through the traps and then drove down a cliff.

I remember it when it was 1/4 mile. That was TOO LONG with the shut down curve! I ran it more when it was 1/8,,much better. In fact, a friend of mine rolled a M/P Chev on the shut down turn years ago. It may have been 1000' foot sometime, but I can't say for sure. Not sure just when it closed. I ran there last probably '92 or so.
If you like drag racing, support your local track.

You may have Meander and Sunset confused. Meander was always a 1/4 until it got too rough and they cut it back to an 1/8 before it closed for good. Sunset was supposed to be an 1/8, but it was and is closer to a 1/10.
Skyline in New Castle ran as a 1/5 (1056') for a while.
