Believe what you want, but it is paper. If you want it redone, it is a $75.00 setup fee and $25.00 a foot.

Now, I do not remember the last time I looked at Chally tail lamp wiring, nor am I disputing that it WAS paper but... here is a pic of 70 B body under dash wiring with a woven cloth electrical tape. I would not be surprised if you could find it at a big electrical warehouse, or maybe Eastwood or something.

beepbeep - you and I just had this discussion with my 70 Barracuda, none of us believe its paper because it appears to be a cloth, forgive us - human nature - something tells me you've been over and over this time and again, so I'm taking your word as gold and believe what you say because I've recently come to know you as a staight shooter and a man with many resources and extensive library of pictures and a love of Mopars of any kind, year, and creed.

You were also right when you said its very expensive, only high dollar restos can justify spending so much. I don't want to rewrap mine in electrical tape either, this seems the first choice when pricing a resto on the wiring.

You were also right that a new repro harness with the new paper covering is cheaper than redoing your original, a crime in itself.

I'm going to stew over this for some time,

beepbeep - for those with the cash to do it right, who is restoring them? Do Frank and Rick sell by the foot? Many thanks...

If you want to redo the wrap, Eastwood sells the cloth tape wrap.

What was that post in the general section......the all time rip off artist for NOS parts that is located in North Georgia. Damn whoever charges that kind of money $75 and $25 a FOOT is certainly no less a freaking scroundrel. That is simply gouging. Anyway you try to shake it, bake it, fake it or rake it. RIPOFF.... Sham city. Downright insulting to 97% of us. Apparantly North Georgia vendor isnt the only one skewering Mopar people.

Since you know so much about this operation how about telling us all about the amount of time it takes to setup, buy the paper and time to run the harness? Much less maintaining a machine that is forty plus years old?

dude....did you see how its applied? You think thats cheap? Its a service as much as a product.

I don;t think this in an item for anyone but the 100% resto crowd, but if its gotta be CORRECT then .....

but that said, you'll never see me buying it.

How are the ends of each wrap terminated?

How can you say that? If you spread the costs over a run of fifty harnesses, the cost dramatically come down. I have bought repop harnesses and have had the sockets changed out thus, the best of both worlds, brand new modern wiring and connectors with the look of OEM.

Painless wiring sells braided loom wrap that is almost identical to it. Summit sells it in diffrent width's and lengths. I got summit pn#PRF-7092 , 1/2" by 10' for $21.95 The one drawback is that its split and rolled over on itself, not a tube, so to speak. I can take a pic if needed.

Yes, I would be interested to know, (how long) does it take to set this up? While your sharing that, please include the time it takes to run the harness. You brought it up!!! 40 yr old machinery is dirt cheap in our business and this kind can be bought for a song. I can assure you this takes no more than minutes to run. How dimwitted do you think we all are. We work with several machinist and they read your post and laughed. To a man everyone said, the charge for this is simply a "specialty charge". It doesnt take long to set this up, takes even less time time to run it. Simply put its a captive market that everyone in here has no other option but to come to limited sources. Yours! Since you brought it up go ahead and post the set up and run time. Geeeez

You were the one that states it is a rip off, since you know about this machine tell us all about it, about the process and the material used. It is easy to criticize when you do not have a clue what is involved.

Also, I do not own this machine, in fact I have to drive seventy miles each way to get to it. I do not charge for the six to seven hours spent getting this done. I would prefer not doing it, but there is a small demand for it so it is offered for those who want it done.
