i have a buddy at work that swears drums are junk and could never stop as well as a disc brake car(factory disc) i got a 70 cuda convertable that came factory with tow package wich is 11x3 power manual drums and that stupid thing would flat lock up all 4 brakes very very easy and slam you into the steering wheel with 15 inch radial tires lol was always my understanding that a drumm would grab better but would fade after couple of hard stops till cooled back off the reason for disc was they didnt fade

Just to answer your question. Yes the motor has been bored and stroked I believe.I am not a hemi motor expert. Some people would say oh no it's ruined. I say more power is good. If you can't see any of the changes all the better. I am not really a numbers type of guy and I plan to drive this trailer queen to the local shows (300-400 miles yr). The car has 52,000 actual miles.I hope people enjoy seeing this bullet drive up instead of being locked up in a temp and humidity controlled garage.
I agree with this statement 100%
A car is for driving, and enjoying. Anything else is a waste ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif)

For those of you who think drums don't work and are junk take a look at a semi-truck. Many of the trucks you see today on the road still have drums in front. When you do a search for performance drum shoes there are couple of links that pop up of links. http://www.praisedynobrake.com/index.htmhttp://www.firmfeel.com/carbonme_a.htm

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

Ron do you have the 63 converted to a dual master? My kids 62 300 w PB we did a 69 C body master on.Its for a 69 C body with power drums. It stops great even at 100 plus.He does have the factory 12 inch brakes on it.Its amazing how good it stops even with the goofy dual whl cyl setup they used.Rocky
Yes I do as no way would I race it if I had not. You can see the M/C I use in this pic. It does stop good even from 116 mph runs at the track. Ron

Me I hate change.I didnt change from points untin about 10 years ago in the 65.Then only because the Mallory took a dump.Putting discs on the 65 was one great improvement.I drove it with drums since 69 when I bought it.If you want to retaing the drums see if you can find the sire that makes the shoes I talked about.Ron I thought you had it set up for dual master.Couldnt remember.Rocky

I read that article and had the same questions. I recently bored a 440 .30 over, ,470 comp cam, eddy rpm heads, and intake. Needless to say I am concerned about my 11" drums all around as well. These guys make a street performance racing drum brake shoes. They came highly recommended and it only costs $200 for a set of shoes. I am going to try this and see how it works out. http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/
