We've done some more testing and came up with close to the same results in the 800's hp but the weather conditions are less than desirable so I stopped and am going to regroup on the entire project.
The engine simple is not preforming like it should . When doing the sweeps it feels as if something {other that the dyno brake} is holding the engine back. On one sweep for an instance it took off and felt like it has in the past, the numbers reflected as much.
My engine timing is 33 yours is much more
I've moved the time 32.5 didn't like that
35 didn't like that. It is difficult for me to read the timing mark is seems to wander up and down on the mark about 1/4 inch back and forth.
I guess that's because of the mds ignition. I've experienced this on other engines so simply time to best et and starting.
my fuel 118
moved spark plugs cooler champion {57's I think}
my inertia settings .36 yours .32
I'm considering going back to the 1.5 rockers.
that's the only main change I've made to the engine other than the new block. In my thinking it should be preforming the same or better with the cylinders not leaking with the old block.
I'm having surgery today on my wrist and hand so everything is going to be on hold for a few weeks.
Thanks for contributing to my post much appreciated.

rodney,i also picked up almost 20 hp by changing from 118 to 110 gas. good luck with your wrist...

we have a barrel of 110 and I've been tempted to use some being 15 to 1 compression thought 118 may be a safer move?
the surgery on my wrist turned out to be more than I was hoping for. not only carpel tunnel but in order to fix a cyst the doc had to repair tendons and scrape out a bunch of arthritic stuff.
cast from palm of hand to up above my elbow for 4 - 6 weeks

I agree that you should try different fuel we have seen significant differences (30 hp) on the dyno on a similar 14:1 build just going from C14 plus to C12.
On the dyno the motor even sounded different on the two fuels

426cfm head flow out of a 440-1 ? congrats on the dyno numbers...

if all your #s are acurate, you have the best flowing -1s in the country. Congrats, thats a very cool 63 and makes a ton-o-steam!

Thanks,

I talked to bartons recently and they have cfe port the -1's and bartons do the hand blending and was told they flow 392@.700 ! They want $4700
I've asked Dave at Barton's if they had the flow sheets on these heads since they are the shop that repaired and ported them after they were hurt several years ago. Of course its been long enough that information was not found.
Dave said it was possible that they had that kind of #'s. As the owner of the heads said, they should flow good for what it cost to have the work done!
I guess some day I will have to have then re tested to confirm the numbers. Its really not an issue to me what the flow #'s are so long as I can get a combination that works together... Right?

No have not tried Q16, should also mention dyno sessions are done at elevation which impacts octane requirements,

Madras is 2,242 FT
I'm looking at the data again simply to choppy a graph when the engine h2o and oil temps are lower results are better
whats odd to me when the temps go up the oil pressure @ the end of the sweeps are high 90+
to me the engine sounds nosier than it should?
arg! wish I were healthier to work with it some more.
thoughts are take the 4.5 power valves back out and go back to 103's power valves may not be the answer?
it ran smooth as glass before this build and still should!
same parts only real changes are from 1.5 to 1.6 rockers and engine block.

Sounds like valve train issues to me.

ok got the data to see easier.
not easy for this one handed person.

what I'm trying to do is find some advise if possible to smooth out the power curve and get a PLAN on what to do next.

sounds like from the reading I've done on the Carb threads billet metering blocks are a good thing.
does a person buy from the builder of them and give engine specs so they are custom built?
fast fuel or AED seems to be the choices?
would 110 fuel be bad thing to try?
what would I be looking or if I ran the 110?
spark plugs looking to lean? 15 to 1 compression according to the builder.
bore scope and look for to hot pistons?
it seems this engine combo is being a pain in the rear compared to the first. Or the 1st wasn't tuned properly either.
so many questions? sorry simply trying to understand if possible how to properly tune a big engine.

here's my plan for better or worse.
After visiting with tech from both fast fuel and Barry Grant I'm installing a 1095 with all jetting back to stock for this Demon carb.
vp c-14 fuel
new wide band which will interface with dyno software it's an NGK brand with racer disc. 263.00
and check all of the basic settings and clearances

I'm about ready to finish the testing on the 572.
this time on C-14 VP and a new wide band for air/fuel all hooked to the computer for printout and display on the computer screen so alarms may now be set.
a few sweeps with the 1150 then the barry grant 1095cfm to see how the engine likes it.
oh what fun

New results with the O2 installed
first sweep with the Barry Grant 1095
2nd with the good ol' 1150 jetted 98's
power valves blocked
I'm done testing
now to test a few Chebys I've been putting off to pay for some of the peices the Dyno needed.. worse then a race car

What the O2 spreadsheet looks like.
OK I'm excited it all works.
I was having a problem getting the dyno/engine to smooth out, it would surge and act crazy
come to find out the speed pick up on the back of the brake was loose. Tightened it up and all was back to normal
