2536430 - 8 right?

2536430 is the number for a 440

8 just means that the tooling has been reconditioned eight times

All 2536 430 8 tells you is that it was built tween 68 - 72.

Need more numbers to narrow it down.

look at the machined pad up top sorta by the dist & give us the hand stamped #'s and letters on it. The prefix # will tell you the year and the pad will also have the CID either 383 or 440. either way you have 906 heads.

Yes they do it is just in a different place than the 440. That is for the assembly date for the block. The partial Vin stamping is still the same place of both 383 and 440.

ok....when the engine was out a few months ago I recall the casting date was 1970. I saw that. but it's hard to see that side of the block now vs the other side. But I know it's a casting year of 1970. So does this help? But I should have the 906 Heads?

Sort of , the HP engine had different rods and double springs on the heads and a few other tidbits ... that's assuming it's a 70 or 71 model year engine , the casting date only tells you when the block was cast , noit when and what it was actually built ... assuming it's the original engine from the car you got it from ...

I doubt if they are true double springs. Probably a single spring with a damper.

One smaller diameter spring goes inside the other.

easier than that... find this pad and will get the displacement on a stamped number.

I think they were springs with dampener, not double really
