If you have an air compressor, pump some air in thru the spark plug hole, a compression tester hose witht eh schrader valve pulled works good.

The find the hiss, if you are hooked up to #1 and hear the hiss in #2's plug hole that's probably the head gasket. If the radiator bubbles air, it could still be the head gasket or a crack.

Yes, do a compression test or a leak-down test.
