That is an awesome video! Thanks for posting it. There were a few of those type cars at US30 in Gary, IN back in the day. An early Chevy II comes to mind named Bouncing Berny. Had a 283 with a tunnel ram and a four speed. It was music to the ears to hear it go through the burnout and dry hops to stage!

thanks for the post those are awesome i think thats why most of us are hooked on drag racing now you have so much boring drag racing. you do a burn out then we go right to the line, no short burst, whatever happened to those, now you have half the field are dragsters that all look alike except paint. thanks for the post

Used to be a bunch of M/P cars at Assumption when I raced there. Used to see them with the clutches and/or Doug Nash 5 speeds apart all the time.

Almost brings tears to my eyes! I guess I was always one of the weird guys that loved those high winding small blocks in MP back in the day. I would always run to the bleachers when I heard that magical sound. I showed those vids to my Son( he's 17 and races my 8.80 Stealth in Electronics class) and told him, when you can drive one of those: then you're a real racer. He is learning to drive my 4 speed AAR right now, so I'm working on him. Now let me see, where did I put that old Doug Nash tranny at in the shop?

Weird No-Way There was nothing better than Modified Production class or Super Modified and this man-Garley Daniels c/sm Chevy 2 was unreal to watch.

Joe Lemley won Modified Eliminator Indy in 1970 in this car. A classic photo is a fight at the starting line between two photographers . Still bracket racing with a 4 speed today!!!!

When NHRA killed Modified Eliminator, they killed drag racing as a spectator sport. Thanks Wally Parks, you must have been senile even back in '81

Lemley is in very tight company, as there were only 14 Nationals champions in Modified '67-'81.

Bob Riffle won in '71, and I believe Cotton Perry won the last one.
