I am sorry if I offended anyone with my opinion on the 77-78 grille. I appologize, but I still don't like them.

As for the letter, I am attaching a copy of it. I'm not a computer geek so if it does come out, you will notice I covered over some personal identifiers with electrical tape.

As for the total produced, when I first wrote to Chrysler I was expecting to hear that about 200 or so were built. This was based on my own observations, opinion and sincere belief that I was some sort of a wiz on Mopars of that era. I was surprised at their response, but as for now, this is the best information I have available and it is from the cats who built the truck.

If you will notice in my ads for the truck, here and on ebay, I state that I have a letter from Chrysler that states 74 were produced. This is true; however, it also serves as a disclaimer to a certain extent. It would be totally different if I were to definatively state there were only "X" number produced.

I hope the letter attachment works. It is similar format to other such letters I have seen from Chrysler at car shows and such.

In my request to Chrysler for the production figure, I also asked for the last date of production for a 440 D-150. This was because my truck has a mid May 1978 build date and yes I was hoping to find out mine was the last one!

Seems those who don't own D14BD8S trucks feel there were alot more produced.

The letter is dated from 1995 too, perhaps they had the records still at that point.

That is one nice truck you have D14BD8S. Thanks for posting that letter.

Hey Guys wazzzzzup???????
well I have had just the best thing happen to me I found a grill for my truck and it has NO dents and very minor scratches,,, In fact you have to get really close up to see them. All for the sum of 200.00 bucks Canadian and that works out to about 160.00 USD to you guys in the US. So I think I scored well and Ric I will post a pic of it when I clean all the dust off it. It was hanging in this guys garage for about 3 years. He told me about it when I was at the last show with the truck , so I got my Butt over there ASAP to see it Any how how has things been going for eveyone else????? Oh yeah Man is it hot over here the weather has been just Awsome

my computer sucks. can't open adobe. darn it.

i have VIN's on 12 D14's. that's 16.2% of the total. that doesn't include the stepsides and clubs. which is why i believe more were built if Chrysler is grouping all 150's together.

D14BD8S, i wasn't knocking you. just curious to see the letter,(which i still am, lol).
like i said your truck is weirdly optioned compared to others. which should make it "shall i say a 1 of 1" nice catch for someone who won't see another like it.

if 74 is the number, I have owned 2 of them, and still have 1 of them left, 1978's D14bd8s trucks that is. if it doesn't meet your reserve, I would be currious to talk to you more about it.

Supposed to take my truck today to a local truck show, but its raining here and is supposed to continue raining most of the day. Got the truck all good and clean yesterday. I really hate to take it out in the rain but probably will so those brand X trucks can see what a real truck looks like.

Well we got soaked at the truck show it rained & rained & rained some more. About 50 trucks. 4 Dodges my 77, a 37 Military truck, A Quad cab Runble Bee & another Quad cab 4x4 with big tires and suspension lift. The folks with the Rumble Bee were going to bring their Lil Red but decided against because of the rain on that wood is not a good thing.
