+1 on the Duncan. he also sells a bolt in plate that turns the stock shifter into a slapstick. It's all reversible if you want to go back to stock. Who is this Steve guy and his upgrade? A link would be nice. Just checked the Gunslinger site. His are slapstick stock on up. My 73 Charger broke the slapstick and it was not due to abuse of any kind. I also had an 87 Buick GN and that was the most worthless POS shifter ever. I mean it worked and all, but was just a flimsy design on a well crafted car. I never shifted it manually, and it seemed to break also from very light use.

Pistol grips are for 4 speeds.

Pistol grips for automatics is like some sort of strange pen!$ envy.

JMO but when I see one of those automatic pistol grips on a car I just think LAME!!!

I have been very busy, the wife just had major surgery and AOL shut down my old website, so the new one is still under construction.

Auto-Grip has a tilt-forward design AND a trigger!

Auto-Grip pics can be seen here:

I'm currently out of chrome-plated 71-up units, but will sell "naked" ones at a discount. I have a few 70 style that are clear powder coated. They are shiny, but not like chrome.

I moved a few years ago and have not been able to find a good plater locally. Will be trying "Bright-Dip" anodizing for the next batch.

You can e-mail me directly at quapman@aol.com

Thanks and happy holidays!

Steve

While I totally agree with you, for the 66-70, they offer a much better asthetic to the car than the weenie push button stick offered from Ma. Seriously, that had to be one of the lamest shifters of all time, esp. for auto performance cars in the very height of performance car history. you can't blame us for our envy, when you got the sexy pistol grip! lol. The big bulb pushbutton does have a kind of dorky nostalgic look, but doesn't convey performance at all. The typewriter dash was much more macho.

Believe me, Iknow what pistol grip envy is like. Had it back in the late 80s when I was driving a very nice 71 Barracuda auto. Had to sell it and buy the ratty 4 speed Cuda that I currently have.

I had a box of chrome bits in my garage, and I decided to clean them up, and when I got to the bottom, I found (and still have) a newspaper clipping from when I lived in Houston for a 1971 CUDA, 426 HEMI, balanced and blueprinted, dominators, tunnel rams documented $8300 parts. Quit racing, car & trailer, everything $5,000.00. I guess I bought my Buick GN because I didn't want to be working on something all the time. I don't remember. It doesn't say 4 speed, but it's enough to give me pistol grip envy, too. It's from around 1987 or so.
