Ok,I just bought a new camera today so I hope this works.First of all I want to say that my truck is a 73 model but I think all that changed on the later trucks was the inner wheel bearing. As ball joints are a non issue same as Dakota (5 ft cheater pipe to remove upper). The first obstacle is the dust sheild, which you will see in the pics I still need to modify a bit.The Dakota spindles move the caliper down a couple of inches so there is some trimming envolved and also drilling new holes in the shield.
'87-96 Dakota share balljoint with some trucks. They did change on some. Same are as follows lower ball joints- D100 '72-79 and '83-89 D150 '72-80. Upper - D100 '72-79 '83-89 D150 74-93 those are the same.

Did you just remove the whole bumpstop bracket? As of now thats what my lower control arm is resting on after cutting 1.5 coils out On my '73Clubcab. Rough ride but will trim the braket after I perchase new coils incase when trimmed the hight change. Im afraid if I trim the bumpstop it will drop that much more.
Yes bump stop bracket met its demise about a year ago when I chopped my springs.I think the bump stop is going away completely now.

What dust shields are you using? Cant wait to see it sittn on the grond. What size tire are you going to run up front?
They are the factory ram dust shields.I had it sitting on the ground last night.I measure 13.5 inches from center of wheel to fender lip, thats without shock installed.Im not sure exactly how much it lowered it to be honest.I never measured it two years ago before I cut the coils. If someone could put a tape to thier stock truck measuring from center of wheel to fender lip it would give a pretty close estimate.Im guessing around 4".

The longer tie rod sleeves was another part that i looked at too as being a problem, let us know what you come up with for a part# or application. Looking good so far.
Were those tie rods neccesary to buy to get into the steering arms or are they longer on the adjuster side---whats the skinny on why you used them?
And hey, you knew there were going to be 5 million questions when you did this, thanks for your time in answering everyones--myself included.
Outcast Dodge guy.

ramblebee, awesome work!!! i also have 91-96 dak spindles sitting in my garage, destined for my 77 SWB. it is lowered with two inch dropped Chisholm springs. been threatening to slap em on my truck but i drive the dang thing! it's hard to rip into a driver, especially one you use regularly. Also have three inch de-arched rear springs with factory over-loads to install, should go 5 inch total rear drop with my two in dropped shackles. I have 17s with 275 55 rear tires and am trying to get a pair of 255 50s for the front. your truck looks right-on! here is a pic of my 77 before the dropped springs. (moparjamie is in the pic!) later, JP in KS.
71 SWB, 413
77 SWB, 318
92 SWB, 5.2 magnum
79 Macho Short bed, 318
03 stratus coupe R/T
too many others not on the road!

I used the van tie rods mainly because the stud size is exact same as the Dakota. The obvious thing to do would be to use the Dakota tie rod end but they are female on the adjustment end.In other words they thread onto the tie rod instead of into an adjustment sleeve.I havent been able to get back to the parts store to look at adjusting sleeves yet.I have looked at a few pics of sleeves on rockauto and the 76 Newyorker(again) sleeves are a lot longer than the Ram.If they are the same size and thread as the Ram sleeves they should work.I dont mind answering everyones questions Id like to see more of these trucks customized.
