Get a good volt-Ohm meter and check the spark plug wires resistance. I have had a similar intermitent miss in high gear above 6000 RPM. It turned out to be the #4,6 and 8 spark plug wires

here s what i can tell ya
have worked on electronic for nearly 25 years
these boxes are realy simple
if the working they work,
they only thought there after i will
give is vibration,, could cause the board inside to "lose" its grounding in it own case
most engine computors you buy for you're cars that are rebuilt, are a cause mostley to the circuit board "breaking" lose inside.
so that is why it came back working
they removed the board tested, it worked, put it back in
hey, it works, the must have fixed it!!

thus you wouldn't see anything wrong untill a certain style of "vibration " is seen by the unit
thats why it's important to use those rubber mounts, (not the only cure)

Oh I agree with you on this aspect but the miss was
there and when returned it was gone so it was inside
the box... I didnt open it to check it and just sent
it back... and yes the boards in there are most of
the time the issue... and yes I do use the rubber feet

I had the same problem in the spring. Threw lots of parts at it. The last one on the list was the magnetic pickup in the distributor. That fixed the problem for under $10.

A buddy of mine had this problem last year and it was the pickup. Cheap and easy to try.
