No schematic, but it's pretty straight forward. You can see a 250 amp fuse next to the battery on the left. The ground strap is going to the metal on the right side. The cable runs in the passenger side cable tray to the fire wall where there is a Moroso bulkhead pass through. For engine to chassis ground you must use a larger cable as the starter current now runs through it.

You can run the large positive cable forward to the starter main terminal & keep everything else up front the same & it's simplified. Some use a ford type solenoid just off the batt positive terminal in the trunk so the long cable is dead until you energise the solenoid w the key but to me that complicates it unnecessarily and I've never sweated the cable being hot all the time, just good insulation & watch for any sharp edges but if you use the solenoid back there use a special continous duty one made for this rather than a regular ford light duty intermittent type that that you would get at your parts house. nhra regs (which I'm not familiar with) may require the main cable to be dead & if so use the solenoid and or a shutoff switch in the rear taillight panel (if so put it in series w the positive or the ground cable as required).

Just an FYI if you ever replace that optima do not cut the posts off. It will void the warranty. It looks old(judging by the label) so you have been ok. I can tell you I have never had one with the posts cut off test good. The side posts attach in that same area so if you cut it off just right they lose connection as well. Just a heads up for if you ever replace it. The side post also can't support as much of an amp draw.

I would NEVER run a "hot all the time" positive battery cable from the trunk forward. I will ALWAYS use the relay type set-up (as shown in the first diagram in Ron's post ) not to do so is just asking for trouble IMO.
The master disconnect switches typically are not capable of handling a heavy starting current load and should not have the starter power draw routed through them.
I have seen the arc welding job and resulting fire a "hot all the time" battery cable short can cause.

I think I've bounced PM's with the OP.

Here's the best way to do it for any car IMHO. No hots outside the trunk area when main is thrown.

If a street car and you are concerned about the constant draw at the alt continuous duty relay, run a wire from a switched source to activate the relay. That way when the key is off, the relay is closed and will also close when the main switch is thrown, since it's downstream.
