You budget minded people are not looking at the whole picture. You must have never had to try to replace the entire wiper system with the dash in place. Save money on stuff you can get to and unbolt in a few minutes. If the car is apart, there is no way I am going to not replace with correctly restored parts the wiper assembly, master cyl. and heater box and dash assembly.

I love my time and efforts and arms and hands and skin too much to do it more than once. And even though everyone in being nice, as soon as you look at the painted wiper motor you know what you are thinking.

If your budget is too tight to restore the wiper motor and never have to touch it again you need a different hobbie. After years and thousands and thousands of dollars to paint your car and you skip the wiper motor???

Not everyone has a spare $300 for a wiper motor!

I agree Jules is the master and when I can afford a car that is both rare and desireable, I will probably pony up the 3 bones, but on a 67 Belvedere with a factory slanty, I just cannot justify the expense.

$300 will rebuild a front end, buy a driveshaft for the 383 conversion, put a 3:55 in the 8 3/4 or put an exhaust under the car.

I agree. Plus a painted wiper motor would that people look at in disgust would still be a lot better than what I have lol

When I see one that looks as though someone tried to make it look correct but took a shortcut, it sends up a red flag. I think to myself "wonder how many other shortcuts were made on this restoration" My advice is, if you can't afford to get it done right, at least paint it a custom color, don't attemp to cover up the fact.

our Aussie motor's are a little differant to the US unit's, I just finnished my wiper motor yesterday, i sent the covers off to the platers and sandblasted the alloy body with glass bead, the resault was great for the small amount of money that went into it.

Well as long as the part is cleaned and freshly redone (whether to original finishes or not) I am fine with it. I also think it depends on what you are doing with car. Not everyone can afford or pull off a top notch resto. But that is not to say I would ever thumb my nose at another car guy because his car wasn't done exactly like the factory did it. I hope our hobby hasnt gotten that ridiculous.

Yeah I guess I should have specified that I don't have a T/A Challenger or Hemi Cuda, its just a lowly original /6 Demon...IE doesn't have to be factory original looking.

Thanks for the "plug" dougsmopars! I always appreciate the kind words, except "he" is a she, LOL. But who's counting?

Nice work Jules, as always

Why is it that when someone asks a how to do it question on this board half of the responses are "send it to... or Buy it from...", thats not the point of the hobby. Then some have the nerve to tell someone to find a new hobby if they can't afford or don't want a $300.00 on wiper motor, you can stuff it. I think that the wiper motors done by someone who specializes in doing them looks great but you have to give due credit to the guy who wants to do it himself.

To me there is no "lowly" mopar....just budget constraints which most of us understand, believe me I've learned to squeeze a nickle til the buffalo farts...

Do you have this motor apart or are you trying to clean it up with it fully assembled??

Just thought i would add if you do not know what you are doing you do not want to take this thing apart.I learned the hard way that they do not go back together as easy as they come apart. Also not everyone cares if it looks original or not just want it to look better.

Here is my '73 Roadrunner's, I used the Eastwood "Golden Cad" system, and then clear coated it. For less than $20, I am happy with it! I did the jack too, it fools about half of the people that see it.........

Nothing wrong with painting your parts. It's your car. Do what makes you happy. A nice car is a nice car. Clean and detailed is beautiful. Doesn't matter if factory correct. Not everyone is restoring a 70 Hemi cuda convert. Seems foolish to me to spend 50 K restoring and 5 years work on a 30 K car.

chache you can use Rustoleum Spray On Airline Stripper, I find mine at Auto Zone for under $10 a can, pretty nasty stuff if you get it on your skin, but it will clean every nook and cranny on that housing. Let it sit about 10 minutes, blast it with water from the hose (that's how I've done it), let it dry and it's ready for paint....if you're going to paint it.

If you don't wanna paint that bad boy and the motor is apart, send it to me and I'll blast that housing and return it to you. I've been there, done that, before I had the equipment to build the way I do now, I had people help me, and now I'm paying it forward....

4BBodies. Motor looks really good. Nice job. I tried the east wood on some parts i couldn't get the green and red tones right. Yours looks super.
