Got a new trailer...actually my FIRST trailer, and Im happier than heck!!!!!
and.....
I know we have talked about this a bit, but I got to try it today so I thought I would share
2009 1500 Crew Cab Laramie 4x4 Hemi 24' United UXT with Finish Line package and an extra 12" in height 4,400lbs empty Draw-Tite load levelers
North of Chicago to Indy....
Pulled great!!!!!! More power than even I expected, truck rode awesome. Truck did squat around 5" before the load levelers were cranked on. then it squared off pretty good. The ball was even with the top of the receiver. Stopped awesome, didn't sway, awesome I think even for an empty trailer.....the only downside was 80mph there and 16.6mpg and 65-70mph home and 9.1mpg

Hope you have the same feelings of happiness when the car and gear are in there. I towed my 24ft enclosed for a number of years with my 95 1500. Made sure to never be in a hurry. The newer 1500 series trucks are twice the truck my 1500 was. Way more power, huge braking upgrades. Let us know how it does! ..... and great looking ride BTW!

I agree its not enough truck to load it to the hill, but my truck is rated for 8,100lbs and all Im sticking in the trailer is a 3,100lb duster, so Im ok.
Don't forget to include the weight of the passengers and gear in the truck.

it may not need it, but I wonder if anyone is making a load bag that goes on that truck. not a universal kit, but one that could help the coil spring.
nice truck and trailer

not everybody can afford a special truck for everything or a biga**ed dually. Hell that 1500 is plenty good. we used to haul 2 1000 lb steers to market in 1/2 ton 48 Ford truck and spray feilds haulling 250 gallons of water around. 1.5 ton trucks were/are hauling 150 - 200 bushels of 60 lb/bu wheat to market. Cars were towing Air streams. People didn't have Sunday go to meeting trucks. You towed and worked with what you had. Some people still have to do that. PS: People towing trailers at 80 MPH shouldn't be towing. Just because the speed limit is 0/75 you don't have to drive that fast. Remember that you are towing and no matter what the load rating is you have to allow for it. Stopping distances and mauverability are greatly reduced with a trailer. 5 or ten MPH really don't amount to squat in a couple hundred mile trip. If you have to be some where that few minutes sooner - leave earlier. You will have a safer more comfortable ride and save gas to boot.

thats all fine and dandy, but if you get in an accident and somebody gets hurt because you are towing with the wrong vehicle prepare to loose eveything you own.

You will be fine for local and small trips but long trips you will tax the Hemi and find it's limits, they aren't designed for the work required pull that much weight and more taxing is the wind you'll be pushing.
Hopefully your running a weight stabilizing hitch and a sway bar, that will make it as safe and stable as possible and extend the limits of your 1500 but if you take frequent trips over 100 miles loaded you'll kill the Hemi unless you stay off the interstates and drive 55mph and when you come up on hill you don't expect to maintain your speed.
I killed my 1500 trying to pull my first 24' trailer on the interstates and I was under 7,000lbs and didn't have the extra 12" height.
So don't get in a hurry and try to stay local and you'll be fine.

There are plenty of rigs that could safely tow that trailer for less than a 1/3 of what the 09 1500 he's using cost

This much I agree with 100%
How you drive when you are towing is definately the biggest factor in towing safely.

Congrats on the combo it looks great, BTW it is exactly like my 1500. Put your mind to ease, I have had mine on some pretty big hills loaded and not had any problem. When I towed to Norwalk this year I had trailer.....4000lbs, car 2400 lbs, cargo in trailer misc 750lbs, and to top everything off I hauled a 1000 lbs golf cart in the back of truck, the truck handled it beautifully. Just use your sense about you when towing and realize 70 mph is plenty fast enough. Oh yeah for all you doubters it breaks every bit as good as my 05 2500 4x4 diesel did. The comment made about an inflatable bag inside the rear coil would probably be ideal for them.
