Who is this Bucky cat whose name keeps popping up? Has he ever run a Hemi Challenge? Has he ever won a Hemi Challenge? Has he ever been in the final or won a Challenge at Indy? Ever held a SS/AA or SS/AH Nat'l record? Can someone who follows these stats tell me how many Challenges or SS Eliminators he has won if any? Is there any truth to the "First in the Eights" story and with whose power? I am going to have a shirt made that says "Who is Bucky" and wear it to his shop to keep the fire lit. A little time off never hurt anybody. All you need is funds and the lot is always full in Martinsburg At Bucky's LTD.

my point was baughmans car is an old race car. its been around along time. it dosen't have all the new chassis goodies thes others fdo with a few year old cars. once he gets that car figures out it will be fast. he only just tested at atco prior to the dutch.
also if westcots car is spinning when he leaves the line and he gets that figures out wherther be chassis or tranny his 60' will be killer. alot of races won from there. that 8.29 he did was clealy spinning or a weak launch
On both accounts. Also John Baughman took a hiatus due to Lyme Disease he's been battling. Look for Baughman to continue to improve and get himself and that car where it needs to be.

Are you serious??? I think McCallum was first in the eights way back if memory serves me correctly.
Yea, some may say that. But this mysterious Bucky guy was the first in the 8's AND passed an NHRA teardown. Big difference...

Attention all SS/AH racers: I've talked to Bill Howell of Howell Printing and he has agreed to give a special deal to who ever would like hand out pictures made by his printing company. Bill is one of my main players in my stats as he does all my printing for me. Bill races in Stock and daughter Grace races in SS & Stock, so they are no strangers to drag racing. Call Bill and ask for the "Nitrojoe" deal. Here is his number: 803-649-2545. Dont melt to much when the Georgia Peach voice answers the phone.

Ok what I don't understand is how Pancake could get suspended for having the "same" motor as Daniels and Barton? Why didnt they get suspended? Are they even the same motor? Someone keeping the best pieces to themselves I see...
I think its time Pancake goes to a different engine builder....
Casey
Pancakes motor wasn't illegal. It was only one part in the motor that was found to be .002 in violation of the rules. I don't know if there are any hard feelings between him and RBRE but if he wants to keep running competitive he will have to stay there. Also what do you mean keeping the good stuff for themself. They don't even have a race car. David drives customers cars.

just so you know,,, nhra doesnt suspend guys for having legal parts
i heard dome was 2 cc too big,,, thats 2,, not .002,, i also heard from two people that the domes were coated and thats why he was thrown out
i was told the motor was hot when they checked it for dome volume,, which if it was,, i totally believe you can get a wrong number,, as you pour fluid into the block heat exchanges into that fluid from the piston, cylinder wall, causing that fluid to expand therefore making you pour less in,, which will make the dome number bigger
nhra has also told guys it is legal to coat ports, chambers, pistons, etc.. then they say its not legal,, depends who you talk to usually

why would he have to stay there? there are plenty of engine builders that are making power... RBRE is the reason he hasnt raced much in the past year... took them months even to get a motor out to him... now he is suspended for having that motor. Just doesnt make sense to me why he would stay there.
And david might drive a customers car, but it is still his name on the window. and look at daniels car... what does it say on the side? kinda weird that they are always on top of the field when there are other barton cars out there... maybe thats just me. People blamed Charlie for keeping his best stuff, well look at Barton.

Pancake doesn't have the same motor, its much older, less exspensive, and runs exceptionally well considering. He also knows himself that its not the latest technology. Why it didn't pass that night is beyond me because it checks fine, just like every engine we build.
Its a very long story, but NHRA screwed something up that night and they are holding information from us. I personally think their math was wrong somewhere, but they won't let us see the tech card with the info on it. They do the math on the back side and write the final answer on the front. I'd really like to see the back side of that card but they will not let us.
NHRA checked everything (carbs, heads, bore, stroke, etc.) out ok until they measured the piston dome. They kept coming up with different numbers, anywhere from 1 to 3 cc's too big. How your measurements can vary that much is beyond me. After 5 times of measuring they told us they were going to get back to us sometime that night to let us know what was happening. I figured they were going to sit down somewhere and review their measurements in private. They never flat out told us on the spot that he was being tossed. About 2 hours later we find on drag race central that they revised the final round and gave Daniels the win.
Trust me, if I would've known their final decision was to bounce Pancake, I would've looked into it much further. There is no way his pistons are too big. At the time I didn't want to insult their intelligence by questioning them in their own trailer about how to do their job, but now I wish I would have questioned it right then and there because we got screwed. I really feel bad for Jim because he won that race fair and square. He did a great job driving and the Holt's did an excellent job getting him from point A to point B.

Jeff, I know what you are saying but the block was cold, you can ask Spyphish. He was freezing. Plus the dome was checked last, it was many hours after the race. And even then, how much can temperature possibly change the reading?
And the piston coating deal, where does this stuff come from? His domes aren't even coated.
What's even more stupid is the head gasket and the chamber were both far from being on the edge. If we were trying to cheat with compression why would we leave so much on the table?
Its a big lesson learned.
