I plan on running a powermaster 140 amp or a 120 denso for my ragtop. how much HP would this big 140 amp alt. take away VS a 60 amp? IS it putting more of a strain on the engine than a 60 amp? Bigger 140 amp robbing more HP that a 60 amp???? just wondering ! 65 DART GT RAGTOP mopars "AWESOME" 360 magnum stoker 402 Engine !!!!!!! ROCKS !!!!!!!!!! 11.0's on pump gas .

Which will depend on how much draw that you have. With a lot of draw the bigger amp alternator will put out more amperage and pull harder but will take a shorter time to restore charge or to keep up with the load. . I have also notice that my idle speed will drop when I kick the fan and water pump ondue to alternator load.
