Dave bought a Camaro?!

Please refer to his location under his avatar. The pic he sent was pretty disturbing, but as friends, we try to understand and help during these kinds of transitions.

I don't think the pic would last long here.

I don't think you would last long if the auhorities saw that.....

The heads that came with the car are bare....I already have a complete set of MP aluminum heads that I bought 2 years ago.

Thanks, I will call Rich this week about the efi. I really like the idea of the injectors going under the blower.

Also with any of the E-body cars and going the pro street route is the question of fitting the fuel cell. With the frame moved in, and wheelie bars, it gets tight. Not to mention, you might still want to put stuff in the trunk.

Dave, the videos are working now and you have an awesome car. I remember seeing this car on you-tube and can't believe how great the paint turned out using a make-shift paint booth out of plastic. That sounds like something us rednecks would do here in the south..lol

I talked to Rich today and was very impressed with his knowledge of making a hemi work with a blower. He said that I needed to use a hydrolic roller cam because it is hard to get the valve covers off an E-body to adjust valve lash on solid lifters...sounds like a good idea to me. He is going to design a camshaft specifically for my application. I think i'm off to a good start. Thanks for all your help. I'm still open to any suggestions you may have.

Thanks, Richard

The trick to getting the valve covers off of an E-body with a hemi is recentering the engine slightly when using a motor plate. Mine is centered as close as possible, and then with the Indy valve covers, the end bolts aren't needed because they use a small stud in place of them. Mine clear everything. The other thing you can do is run the master cylinder off the adapter plate Mancini sells and that mounts the master with two studs as well. Plumb it up with AN03 or 04 braided lines, and you can move it out of the way when needed. Mine is done that way, but it all ended up clearing.

Take a look at my link to the photos and vids in my sig below.

Building that caliber of a car/engine...I wouldn't let engine builder location be the deciding factor on who sets it up.
Plenty of guys on the East Coast to build a proper engine. Todd Marsh is down your way. Hensley's in Tn, Muscle Motors does great work. Darren Tedder aka DTHemi is in Georgia IIRC.

This is how I route the injectors on a roots street Hemi. The drivabilty is MUCH better with the injectors mounted below the blower. The ones on top keep the blower happy.

I want to use an aftermarket K-frame instead of motor plates. There are several companies that offer this. Which one is the best? A friend has recomended the Alter-k-tion and has it in a Chall and loves it. Can I center the engine with that one?

Does your block have stock hemi mounts or 440 style mounts? You need to see what it has on it first. The aftermarket blocks I believe can be had with different mounts or no mounts.

When you go to a blown hemi, the required exhaust tube size is usually 2-1/8 at a min, and fitting those size tubes around stock mounts is not a fun task. My 2-1/4 tubes drop right out. My engine would be centered completly but the headers hit, so its still slightly offset. Don't forget the external oil line that has to run through there as well. Things get a little tight with big headers.

Maybe somebody on here has fit big tube headers with all the above, but its probably not fun. Mine can be put in or removed fairly easily without disassembling anything. I would go with a plate. Besides, what else are you going to mount the alternator to?

the alter-k would be the best one out there. you can always order it without the mounts and make your own to center the motor. if you call bill i'm sure he would be able to answer any questions you have about his system.
