should a remanufactured RV2 AC compressor got at CSK AUTO be ready to 134a ? can I trust on get this unit ?

Most compressors come without lube oil, the type of lube oil determines if the compressor can be used with R-134.

just a question, I read on classicautoair when making the conversion EPR valve NEEDS to be removed

Does mean that, REMOVED and just letting empty that location?

I have ran 134a gas on my car but compressor never has been touched inside, beside cleaned and refilled with the right oil. EPR valve has been there allways and AC compressor has been working without problem ( well has been getting lower and lower performance latelly ). What does make that valve and why should it be removed ?

I dunno what to do right now. My compressor got a WEIRD noise like it had some "tappets" problems, making that kind of noise at idle and decreasing the noise as far Revving up, but noise allways present. I'm searching for some compressor locally, but CSK auto have them really cheap. That would mean wait for about couple of months to get it in hands.

The EPR valve regulates the pressure in the evaporator by opening or closing to maintain a minimum of about 30-32 psig suction pressure. If it is allowed to go lower the evaporator can ice over blocking air flow. Since R134a operates at a slightly lower pressure they may recommend removing the EPR valve and using a temperture cycling switch sensing the suction line or evaporator air temperature. This switch would cycle the compressor off and on to prevent icing of the evaporator.

They noise is probably the reed valves in the compressor head. They will make noise if the charge is not correct, they may be sprung and not sealing properly or you could have a broken reed valve.

You can get a rebuilt compressor off ebay.

yes I have seen the compressor at ebay, but CSK Auto beats the price from ebay in about $45 between price and shipping since CSK auto is free shipping

beside that, I'm trying FIRST to fix this locally but everybody tells diff stories about when making the 134 conversion, what I already "made" around 3 or 4 years ago

I ran my RV2 with the orig drier and all other orig components for years with 134a and the proper oil, always in the lower 40s F.

Switched over to a Sanden compressor, performance is even better, no other modifications to the system.
