Who's the best source for date-coded glass? I need both door & quarter tinted glass for my 69 GTX hardtop, and might as well go with date-coded. PS Auto quoted $700 for all 4 pieces, made in Argentina. ECS Automotive Concepts quoted $998, but haven't yet told me where it's from. I thought there was a previous string on this subject, but don't find it. Anyone have any experience buying glass from these companies, or are there other suppliers? Rich

ECS. From what they told me, there are only a few manufacturers, and they will only buy one kind. In fact, they don't sell glass for my '70 post car, and it's a bummer.

I am sure you could locate the same glass they use elsewhere, but then you wouldn't get the best date coding/pentastar without them, so you might as well just buy from them.

Dave is neurotic, that is the kind of guy I want making parts for my car...

I did buy a windshield and door glass from him for the Cuda though.

I wish that I had the positive experience that you guys did. After spending months gathering info on mfgrs, glass quality, datecoding...etc, I bought a complete set(F/B/S/Q) for my 70 Chally resto from ECS about 18 months back. While the guys are knowledgeable, they sent me some real wavy glass for the sides. I called Dave, and after a whole bunch of pics and discussions he basically blew me off. On a good note, the date coding was excellent. As for moving forward My options at this point are to live with it or try to polish the originals or someone suggested JRD International vintage auto glass. Has anyone dealt with these guys?

I bought a date coded windshield from ECS. The date-coding is awesome, but it still has the PPG logo on the bottom RH corner!!

I bought side glass from AMD. It seems very good. My only issue is that the cut edge along the top is lumpy. It's similar to when a router bit chatters on wood. It's not super noticeable, but it's there none-the-less. The glass itself is straight.

I have also heard that ECS had some issues with the curvature of the glass for some models.

This was first hand info from someone who bought it, and now the glass just sits in the corner, because it won't fit on the car.

Don't know if this was an early production issue, and if it has been resolved.

Hi Bill,
I can assure you that I never "blew you off" so I wanted to take this time to expand on your your peculiar observation of the ordeal.
You ordered your glass on January 11, 2008 which was 22-23 months ago. You stated that you needed the glass by mid February and it was sent to you on February 18, 2008. We were not able to get your clear windshield in time so you were provided a full refund for that piece. We only have a sixty day window with our supplier to report any issues with the glass. If the customer reports problems during the warranty period we will replace (including the shipping for the replaced items) or provide a full refund. You did not report any issues with the glass until May 23, 2008. At that point you removed our ability to go back to the manufacturer and issue a warranty claim. As I said in our past conversations, the best we can do is to replace the glass at our cost and also provide the return shipping. In the past we lost a fortune on customers who did not follow the instructions (plainly listed on the shipping containers) to report any issues with the product. To the contrary, those who complained did not open the boxes for months and faulted our company because they did not follow the warranty instructions that were clearly printed. We changed our return policy because the "lifetime guarantee" that customers seemed to think they had was burying us.
Just for the record, we get our glass custom made by JRD International. That was the glass you received! PPG is the other glass distributor that we use for supplying quality glass. We have tried most of the other glass suppliers and they are not acceptable.
I just wanted to clarify and add some facts to what transpired between us a couple of years ago.

Hi Ron,
We remove all logos other than those that we put on the glass. If a piece made it through without this happening, we will gladly send a pickup call tag for your windshield to fix the problem. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
I am surprised you are satisfied with the incorrect, generic, non-date coded logo that comes on the AMD glass products. Are they not as incorrect as the non-factory PPG glass logo?!

So, can anyone mention the price for the windshield only?
