All things being equal would the 340 keep up or b faster than the 360,we know the 360 has a longer stroke but also has the smaller bore
Back to the origninal question... After seeing this thread last night I went to the NHRA web site and they say a '73 340 is 240hp and a '74 360hp is 245hp. They have identical heads, intakes, carbs, etc. and probably the same compression, but I didn't check that spec. The high compression, 2.02" headed 340's were all at 275hp 'cept the 6bbl.

You're reading the factory advertised horsepower not The NHRA factored horsepower..if you look further down the actual factored horsepower for the Dusters 73 340(9.32CR) w/auto in Stock Eliminator is 289 and the 74 360(9.02CR)w/auto is 309,both running the same cam and heads but the 74 gets the bigger TQ. I run the 360 in SuperStock and its NHRA rated at 269 whereas the 73 340 is rated at 266 with the slightly more compression, same heads and the smaller TQ.

The hottest 340 is the 71, NHRA Superstock rated at 283 with 11.8CR,the factory 2.02 heads and the small TQ. I'm not up on any that are currently running this combo or how competitive it is in its class, but I can tell you right now there is one fast superstock SS/JA 78 360 Volare(I run a 76 360) of Stancil/Wolfords that has dipped into the 9's..Thats one fast 9.1CR small valved head 360!!

Your not the first to laugh at 340stool and you won't be the last! He's a joke and you shouldn't expect him to understand that fact, his head is in a part of the body that doesn't pass light or oxygen. He just doesn't know enough to know he's wrong in almost his every thought.
Well, Im glad theres someone on my side! This isnt the first time Ive gone rounds with 340fool. I guess some people have never made a pass down the track, or are just too stupid to know any better! I guess in his world a 327 will kill an equally built 350, or a 273 kill a 318. Trust me, Id make sure he knows fully well if he ever took a trip down to my home track. We'll see what he has to say next
Ooh tough guy,"wouldn't say anything to your face" i would'nt count on it,but i would count on a 340 in this car putting the smack down on your heap..

As I said before, not in your wettest dream. If you want to bring up "tough guy" talk, Im 6'2", 234lbs, Golden Gloves boxer, and currently bench max 320lb. Anyway, you are a joke...plain and simple. Everyone knows it. You would cry like a 5 year old girl if you ever came out here with that junk of yours. First because of me humiliating you on the track with my full interior/all steel street car, and second, from me wrapping your legs around your head. Get lost clown. Go cruise around on Myspace or something
