I hate to hear that Shawn. So close be yet so far. Do you feel that the new induction system is tuned for all it's worth? I forgot if your using a wide band or not. Dont give up man, it will happen. All your hard work will pay off.... At this point it's hard to keep from being disgusted. But the others might be on to something, having a fresh set of eyes, or a 2nd opinion and suggestions at this point might not be such a bad idea.

Start retard is where it has worked, brand new belt, heads were completly redone 6 runs ago, never checked coil.
fuel puddling in the intake, i have had cold start backfires but not while its running. if the start retard is pulling to much timming on start up it can cause a good backfire

Do you use a start retard? If so how much you timing are you pulling out? I had similar problems, many times it would backfire on startup when warm or act like it was flooded. It was fine when cold or hot but if it had been sitting for 10-15 mins it was a problem. 2 things were wrong to cause it. First, the carb was dripping fuel in the intake when it sat with the bowl full. If it was stone cold the dripped fuel would eventually evaporate. If it was hot there wasn't enough fuel dripped to make a difference. Second problem was too much start retard. I was pulling 25 deg, only option with a 7al3. I think it was enough to cause misfires in the cap. So fire the wrong cylinder with puddled fuel in the intake and you have flames coming out of the carb on startup.

Since the 2x4s have went on we have had 15 retard. Has started perfect everytime never once a problem. It has started better than the single 4. Car wasnt hotter or colder than any other time.

When I had a 572 In my car,,I always had trouble starting it..it had 16.1 compression and used to break the ring gear after around 20 starts or so..I didn't use the msd start retard,because I heard they very rarely work..so I installed a msd adjustable retard and used to crank it on -20 and when it started would switch the knob back to 0..worked great..I dont even use a retard with my small block and it has 16.1..it also helps having the 16 volt battery also...

Have been to 3 different tracks in kansas.
Dont matter if it 95* or 75*, air can be 1700ft or 4500'
60' can be 1.28 or 1.35
Dont matter if power valves are in with correct jetting. or change jettin with plugs in.
It dont matter what you do it will run 9.12-9.15 145 thats it!!!

I put 16 volt battery in mine, wow..does it spin over now

How do the plugs look after a run? and what fuel are you using?
Sounds like you might have a air problem...

An now i cut 2 HOLES in the cowl HOOD. Didnt make a difference. But maybe its still not gettin enough air?
Plugs look good. Have checked them at the end of the track.
Just dont no how starting it 2 minutes later could have done this make damage an cause this much of a problem?
