I'm new and this my first post.

Bought a 69 roadrunner 383

Any hint where the fuse box is?

I am not into electrical and wiring since I just do not fit into those spaces really well in the heat.

I searched every friggin nook and cranny of this site, google, and my car... I searched dash, behind dash, under steering column, under carpet by kick panels.

It's 100+ degrees in AZ and I got sweat rolling into my eyeballs messing up my glasses.

I checked underneath dash. Even unscrewed some lower dash panels to peak inside.

I am trying to troubleshoot why my fuel gauge, speedometer, hazards, rear back up lights do not work. Everything else works fine and the car runs like a bat outa hell.

The speedometer (once I am drive) will sweep from 40-60 at idle at a red light. It will not do it when in park. Gotta get that fuel gauge going or start thinking every 8 miles = 1 gallon. I wish I had a casette tape to shove in the player to see if that works...

Have you looked over in the glove box area?

yep - I even unscrewed the 2 screws on the inside left inside glove box area about a 2" high x 3" wide rectangular space.

thats where the fuse box should be. If not there then someone has home made or bought a different wiring harness for the car. Black box 5 or 6 glass fuse's. Should be there

ok because when I peeked in there I did not see it.

I will try again and bring my camera for a couple of pix after some shade gets here(2 hours) -

thanks that's where I would have put a fuse box. seems like it should fit behind that 2 screw panel on the left.

Anyone have ideas about the fuel gauge or speedometer? To me it looks like some jackass used teh wiring for the after market gauges. that's my guess at least for now. Any ideas are welcome.

Ok for the speedo I would disconnect the cable from the speedo and pull the core. Then clean lightly lube and reinstall the core. The core is the part inside that turns. The fuel guage I would disconnect the wire from the sending unit and use a test light to see if you have a flashinng power supply to it.If it doesn't flash then you may have a bad voltage limiter on the instrument cluster. If you do have power then I would ground the wire and turn on the key for a second to see if the gauge moves, If it goes up then you have sending unit troubles such as not having the ground jumper installed between the outlet on the sender and the metal fuel line. The jumper bridges the rubber line. Do those tests then get back to us with the results.

Under the dash, there should be a taped up group of wires. They will probably run from the instrument cluster/ignition area to somewhere else (the fuse block). Lay under the dash and let your fingers do the walking

I would also try above the kick panel driver's side. That's where it would be on a 68. But I agree, the best advice is to laydown under the dash, driver's side, and follow the harness. My GTX had the fuse box bolted where the courtesy light should be.

a 68 B body has the fuse box in the same place as a 69. Only difference is 68 is screwed to dash facing down 69 faces into glove box.
