i bent a bunch in my 580.they were .080" wall thickness.i have k motion 1000h springs, may have just been to thin of a wall thickness.i now use .120 thick manton push rods, with tool steel tips.they are a lot nicer quality than the indys.i'm going to replace the indy rods in the rest of my motors.

I wouldnt run a cup type pushrod on anything that goes over #750 on the nose.
I wouldnt run an Indy pushrod because they are 3/8 inch spherical diameter and 9 out of 10 lifters are designed for 5/16ths.
With that said, how much lobe on the cam?

I was thinking I picked up two sets of IIRc Stage III. They were .120 wall that could handle NOS as well. They were under $200 like $178 shipped. I didnt order any extra but IIRC they were a hair over $10 each..but its been a few years. Im sure Smith Bros makes nice ones as well. I have seen a bunch of Indy pushrods fail. Ends come out, crack and split, bend, tips break off. I think I have a set I make adjustable measuring pushrods and give them to all my friends...LOL Im getting ready to order some for my Hemi, that is If I dont die of old age before my machine work gets done

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I personally wouldn't run K1000 springs on my gokart. I broke more stuff (all jesel!) than you can shake a stick at till I put some comp 947 springs on the motor. No more troubles, and I picked up a bunch of power to boot. That was with a cam with only .717 lift.

Billy, got off the phone with Noel Manton, and his statement was k1000 springs have caused more problems than,,, I forget the rest, but you get the picture. I have a very new set of K1000h springs, a somewhat used set, and were told they are virtually worthless as a valve spring, OUCH! But, what the hey, maybe I'll find a use for em somewhere. Two (at least) engine builders In our area both quite using them as well. Hope that sheds a little light on things, don't want to see you bust up anymore parts over bad springs. The Indy pushrods might not be great, but have survived well in my motor. I am upgrading to 1/2 inchers though, as others think it should be worth some power and add life to my expensive parts to boot. Greg

I broke brand new jesel rocker needle bearing cages, springs, ruined roller lifters. The springs have a flaw in thier design, I believe it has to do with where they resonate (rpm range), causing lack of control in the valvetrain and subsequent damage due to shock loads from that. The springs I replaced them with have a frequency of 23,000+ cps, which means they resonate at 4,000 rpm, and 8,000 rpm. I run inside those two points, so I am OK. I also picked up .11 et in the 1/8th mile with the valvesprings as the only change. That says a lot to me.

This is the reason I buy, recommend and sell both PAC Racing springs and Manton pushrods and hardware. You cant go wrong. I have at least a dozen sets of K Motions I have taken out now. BTW, if you use ANYBODYS pushrods, and you cant verify the press into the pushrod vs cup/stem press, you very easily can snap tips off. The annealing, chamfer, press and cut of the pushrod ALL have something to do with failures. This is why its best to have them made by someone with the correct cutters and tools as well as pressing them in correctly.

I broke two that popped the cups right off the end. I bought the whole 295 ez c&c kit with 620 comp cam, Over $4k! Indy will not help anyone with it but I did talk to Manton today about this very issue. The person I talked to said Indy knows they have a problem and are in the process of changing the rockers and pushrods. They also said when indy does thier own engines they use MANTON pushrods. Its definatly disgusting spending "Indy Money" Making 7 runs and only 5 all the way through. My Advise, If your looking into buying an Indy Head Kit, Get the heads and Heads only!
