That's just the way I see it.
By the way, Jack's SuperBird is still in existence. He's tried to buy it back, but the guy wants a fortune for it.

.... Drama sells!! Look at all the posts net wide on this subject. They struck gold on this one!! No pre-fab "rivalry" like the Shu/Fuller one last year. They went OVER THE TOP on this script. Wonder who NHRA hired to write this one up!! GOLD I TELL YA!! What will be REALLY interesting....and will be drawing people to the track/tv etc.. is what will unfold in the final races? What's going to happen if Tony P and Cruz meet up?? Cruz gonna play the JFR card and boost his brother up for more points? Will Tony "man up" and keep racing for the stripe no holds barred like Brainerd?? Stay tuned!!! ....too bad they didn't "throw down". Our kids kids would be seeing that highlite years from now! ....personally I thought JF really looked the fool on this one.

Fred, you would know. Didn't you have your fingers in that deal?
I seem to recall a little Italian guy from Philly hanging around that operation......

I think Tony P. "Manning" up at Brainard had more to do with him proving that he could win rounds and a race without Dickie Venerables (sp?) than running it straight up. If that hadn't been three days after Tony lost his crew chief I have a feeling that Tony smokes the tires or breaks something. Again, look at the 2007 season with Cruz laying down to Tony and last year Tony breaking against Cruz late in the countdown as Cruz chased Wilky. The best thing NHRA could do is get rid of the stupid count down and set the points up for the season. The old system was better, just tweak it a bit and let them race over the season. If this didn't happen at the US Nats, it wouldn't be half the story that it is.

What I don't get is the reaction to this sillyness.Whether it's staged or not,do we have to over react like some little girls? Who cares,it's sure nothing new unless you don't understand sponsers,NHRA,tv wrestling, reality tv,whatever... It's a joke,so get over it,not make it a big deal. The original poster is a baby, the rest of the swingers are being led by emotion, not sanity. Rock on JFR!

You're not serious Steve. A few posts back, you were ranting about the integrity of the sport and all this other stuff, but a Superbird with a big motor and a filled wing is just "bending the rules" a little and Force possibly throwing a race to get a team car in the chase is "cheating" and killing the sport. That seems pretty hypocritical to me. Or is the Superbird incident OK, because it was done by a Mopar legend, Jack Werst. What about that book that was written about all the cheating that was done by the Mopar roundy round teams back in the day, or were they just "bending the rules a little" as well. A purposely BIG motor and illegal ballast is dead up "cheating" and we all know it, but I guess it was different in the old days, huh.

Wow. I can't believe Mopar Performance would pass over a drag racing legend like Eddie Hill in favour of Tommy Johnson Jr. Nothing against Tommy Johnson Jr., but at that time Eddie Hill was a far more accomplished drag racer.
Not at all surprising. Remember Don Schumaker & Mopar picking the marketing golden boy Shaun Carlson to drive the 2nd Mopar pro stocker in '06?

Nhra has been going down hill for awhile. Everytime I watch it seems as if its some kind of reality show for force and his family. Instead of calling it nhra they should just switch it to force and family.

Diving isn`t something new its even on the weekly local level. This Saturday is our last points day they`ll be more diving there than at the Olympics. As for the NHRA they refuse to believe anything is wrong: attendance, the economy, sponsors leaving, big name teams folding etc. as long as they can keep lining their personal pockets with $$$.

I can't count the times that Curt and myself meet in the late rounds and finals and would bump shoulders in the lanes to decide who would win the round. Most of the the time I would give the nod and wink to Curt. Those were some of the proudest moments a father could experience.Even today it's not unusual for members of BGR to help other members.I always tell the crew and friends if they want another time trial line up with me,I'am not there for the win or money,I just want to be the "show".Like John Force,I have nothing to prove, after 40+ years(but on a much, much smaller scale than John)but the same game.Let the team and the new kids have a turn and experience what we had a life time of.Heck ask Lonnie what I told him in the lanes at PRP,"use this run for your advantage,I'am not looking for a win,I just want to see the blue sky" John Force did what any savy team owner and proud father would do.He had a planned strategy and executed the plan successfully.Again to John Force and to Tony P aka crybaby
John Force altered the out come of the race period. He did it for the sponsors on the car.Was it fair? Heck no!!Robert Height should be given a Emy(?) for his after race interview. What a joke. As far as you saying that you do the same thing for your kid? Well thats a great way to teach someone the way to earn the respect of the other racers. All those good racers that show up with one car and no one to watch their backs that earn every win and you will throw a race so your kid will get the all the glory.Your kid is a winner because you altered the race just like Force. I call it cheating.I will keep your post and I bet there will be a day that someday someone will lay down and let someone in their team win and you or one of your team will be on the other side of this and then you will jump on here and cry about it.
If the MODS did their job I would not be hitting the notify MOD button. LOL
