MAN! I fired up the truck this afternoon, let it warn a bit and made a few passes up and down the road, pulled it back in and drained out the oil. Toped it off with new and refired the 440 and the oil PSI never came back up. Something is weird here, the shaft did not twist off, and it is full of oil, so I figure, must be the pump. The local parts guys in the area ( A-Zone, O'Reilly's Napa, All pro ) all said that a 440 oil pump will be special order. That will take a week or more! How about that for luck.

Boom! The 440 is OK! 100 psi, Never had that before. Weird that the pump stoped when I changed the oil, I got a used pump from a 400 I have in storage. This will do untill the new one comes in.

Look in the pump you pulled off. Specially the relief valve. If you got something that blocked the valve open it will not prime and build oil pressure the next time you try to run it. My brother had a 383 that parts of the nylon cam gear did that to a couple of times. That relief valve is what determines your oil pressure so your new one must have a stiff spring.

I agree, it must have something in the releif spring causing it to dead head the pump (full presure)

Well I took the pump apart and I did not find anything obvious. I geuss that the trash could have been knocked out in the past week that it has been laying around. The spring is intack, I don't know if it is worn out but nothing in it and it is not broken. The new pump is on and working great so I will just have to be happy nothing went terribly wrong. Thanks guys!
