sorry guys...has football practice last night..
ill be towing a 22ft enclosed with the duster and a 16ft open..most of the time.. the trailer weight and all gear is prolly 8k? i feel fairly confident the truck will tow it when it was new.. i was most concerned about this truck with 200k do these trannies hold up this long? seem's like first impression the motor will hold up with this milage.. same for the diff? i currently tow with a GMC 2wd xcab lwb..with the 5.o and 5spd manual. makes about 150hp? although its in great shape and runs excellent it gets 13mpg with out the trailer.. and 8 with the trailer.. but i tow 3days a week. (work requires the flatbed trailer with lumber on it) so if the dodge has more power and the same milage its a still a positive for me...fwiw
agian i am most concerned with what will likely break or give me problems...with this trucks age? cheapst

I would be inclined to look for a one ton with lower mileage, based on your weight and usage. You say you will be towing three times a week for work, might as well get something that is likely to be more reliable. On towing capacity, after having had a wreck because I had too light a tow vehicle, I am convinced I want something that won't get tossed around by what I am towing when I have to hit the brakes in an emergency. My motorhome is 15,000 lbs, trailer is 9,000 loaded. Works great.

My 04 1500 QC 4wh dr with the Hemi will get 19-20 on the highway and around 13 city. I pull my 28ft enclosed trailer loaded and would get anywhere from 9-11mpg.
05 Hemi 2wd 1500 QC = 13-15 City, 17-20 Hwy
Towing 24' enclosed w/Duster = 6-13 depending on grades. Oh yeah it now has 140,000 mi on it.

The lumber I haul is light weight . Mostly remodel type materials So valvesprings is all I need to worry about?
