But what about soda blasting? Isnt it safer than the previous mentioned ways? Also doesnt it leave a residue that will prevent flash rusting and it wont hurt trim & glass (if for some reason you'd run into it)

it will not remove rust. I did the jack stand on my back on the dart sport

I found 2 places out here near L.A.
www.surfaceprepsolutions.com is one of them.

Also ask them for their blasting guidelines.pdf info. There's alot of great info in it about CFM, PSI particle mph charts to achieve the best results.

There's gotta be someone out East that sells it too. It's popular with shipyards according to the documentations so I would try calling some places there for a leads. Try sand blaster places too and see if they're familiar with it.

If you can't find it, then try Aluminum oxide. I've used it and it comes out very good with no dust that could piss your neighbors off. Plus save your Lungs from alot of pain later.

I tried blasting with sand once and never again. I was hurting in my chest for 2 days later.

If you have the opportunity, I would like to see a pic of what the actual media of this coal slage looks like. Ive heard you talk about it before and have been interested.

It looks like course black sand. Do a google search on Black Beauty coal slag.

As you can see from this chart, glass beads and skat magic (coal) take longer to strip the surface. A softer media means more media needed and more time spent stripping. I believe that the best choice is stripping as quickly as possible.
To each his own.

I was going to post that paint stripper works well (which it does), but after seeing the pics of the car done w/ gas and steam, think that's the way I'd go.

Seduce the attractive, and charm the rest. ****** 489 C.I.D., roller cam, aftermarket heads, tunnel ram, stock '54 Dodge rear axle assembly: which of these doesn't belong?

This is my gold car after steam cleaning before blasting. It doesn't matter what kind of media I use when it's this clean before blasting. It only takes less than 10 mins and maybe a bag or two of coal slage to blast the whole bottem of this car, no exageration. Look at my picture above, do you see much media on the ground?

This car had no rust what so ever.
