I have a 6 pack bee that is a radio delete car that had an am/8 track with 4 chrysler speekers installed when new. My uncle purchased it new and the radio and speekers had already been installed. The fender has been replaced long ago and my uncle has passed away. My question is did a radio delete car come with a fender with a hole and a rubber plug or a fender without a hole. THANKS for our help!

What year did a radio become standard equipment and it was deleted if you didn't want it? I guess a "sales bank" car could have the radio deleted but if you sat down with a dealership sales person and ordered a, lets say, '69 road runner back in '69 all of the radio options had to be ordered or you didn't get one you didn't delete it you JUST NEVER ORDERED IT! And when you never ordered a radio Body-In-White never drilled the fender for an antenna and a plate was put were an ORDERED radio would have gone. The only time I could see a radio being DELETED would be at the dealership if you didn't want a radio in a car that was ordered with one or it was a sales bank car already on the lot. When did radios become standard equipment back in the day? I know defrosters were required by law when the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and were usually part of the heater system and some States allowed you to do a "heater delete" but a car has to have something as standard equipment in order to be deleted. Sorry just my posi-traction, build sheet, data tag rant  but I know there are some good arguments for this "delete" term so fire away.
BTW: My '69 M-code 440 Dart is a "stripe delete" car

My interpretation - 
It sounds like Mark is implying that the dealer added the 8-track & speakers before it was purchased new. He wants to return it to "as factory built" not "as delivered".

My friend's car that is a 1969 Six Pack Super Bee was bought off the lot on Sept. 9th 1969 by the original owner. It did not have a hole in the fender for a Ant.,it had the block of plate on the dash in the normal Radio location. I would imagine that the Dealer installed the Radio so it would be more presentable on the lot to sell. Usually Dealers would put the hole for the Ant. in the rear quarter when doing an ad on at the dealer of a Radio,much like an AAR/TA.
My 1971 Cuda came without a Radio. NO hole in the fender and a block off plate on the dash in the radio location.

Mark, don't let any of these comments upset you. It is commonly called "radio delete" when there is no radio ordered for the car. It has been and always will be called "radio delete". There is no antenna hole in the front fender if a radio was not ordered. There would be a textured plastic "block-off" trim panel in the dash and a very thin black cardboard blockoff taped with wide black masking tape to the underneath of the dash to cover the center speaker grill opening. This is to keep the light from shining up through the dash. I believe the only way to tell for sure that it was ordered without a radio on a Lynch Road car is if you have the broadcast sheet or the dealer's bill of sale from when the car was purchased? If you can show that the 8-track was a dealer installed item when new, I'd leave it in...unless it's a 4 speed coupe.

Agreed! My car is "Radio Delete" I can't believe people still bring this crap up. There are three people in the hobby that don't call it radio delete and their all on this forum! (they really need to get a life)!

The funny thing I find is when you call it a RADIO DELETE everyone knows exactly what you are talking about even if it is a NO-NO thing to call it that by them.
Snow machines were called Ski-Doos in the beginning, Zerox at the beginning was the word for a Photo Copy. There are a lot more things like this. It is only words and as long as everyone knows what the heck there referring to WHO CARES if you call it a RADIO DELETE.

But it is misleading. Like you say, it is the accepted form of describing a car ordered without an optional radio. I don't know why this term is so popular to use, seeing you never hear a car referred to as a 440 delete car, or a power window delete, or a whatever optional equipment delete. It just doesn't make sense. But people seem to be in love with the way it sounds so best just to accept it and move on.

The ones that I've seen blocking the hole have been chrome. As stated previously if the car had no radio there would be no hole in the fender, so these must have been done after the radio deletion!

The difference is that most cars came with a radio where most did not come with a 440. It's just an easy way to describe it, even if it is not technically correct.
What really bugs me is when people talk about their hot water heater. Why would you be heating hot water?
