The 440 block has all the right machine work done; decked, bored with plates, line bore checked. Lightweight J & E pistons and pins, stock rods w/ ARP bolts, steel crank, all components balanced. Racer Brown 543/509 hydraulic cam. Non ported 906 heads w/ big valves and triple springs, original rockers. Melling hi flow, 8 qt oil pan. Complete MSD ignition (distributor, 6 AL box, adjustable timing module). 10mm Taylor plug wires. Holley reworked to flow 930 cfm. Edelbrock TM-6 manifold. Hooker Super Comp headers and 3 inch exhaust through FlowMasters. The engine runs really strong and smooth. Best ET in a mostly original and heavy 72 Charger is 12.40 with TCI 3500, standard 727, 4.30 gearing and slicks. I think this motor could really wake up with a set of good alu heads so I need your tips folks. I don't have too much to spend so I'm looking for the most bang for the buck Thanks in advance

Good idea theclutcher but the problem is that I don't have the time to do it How much better are the Victors vs RPM's?

If your pistons are somewhat close to zero deck you probably won't be able to run anything other than the performer rpm head or the 440source head (when it comes out) and run your car on pump gas. The 75cc chamber on the victor/indy heads would jump your compression up too high. My neighbor went from stock 906 heads on his 440 6pack coronet to out of the box performer rpms. He is running a similar cam to yours, he only has 3.55s though. Just a street car, so no time slip comparison, but huge seat of the pants difference. I wouldn't be surprised if they were worth 50hp.

I was just not at all happy with the performers. That exhaust port blows and I wasnt impressed with the intake either even after carving them. Ended up with a set of B1BS which I had never considered. Wow in stock form good but my what potential, ended up with 350 air on the intake!

Fly me in and I'll do it for you! The victors have a bunch more potential than the RPMs but they also come with a higher price tag.

Right now? I'd definately go RPMs with nothing more than a correction valve job and some blending to get rid of the CNC marks. As for the 440Source stuff, I'm taking a "wait and see" approach, just like the blocks.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

This thread started over two years ago and it has happened a lot regarding Mopar big block heads since then!
I haven't done anything to my beloved Charger since then, it still runs like a dream, but falls on it face above 5,000 rpm's. I am still running stock 906 with the stamped original rockers, but now I think it's time to do something about it!
Some advice would be good though, most power for the bucks?
