There are over 14000 members. Discounting a few, shall we say 12000? If each would contribute $5, that would be a chunk of it...

I think they should restore it and make a several episode documentary of it. No matter what, everybody will know the car when it is mentioned. Who cares if it got wet, fix it. I have seen cars much, much worse get the attention and restoration needed to bring it back, and this car has more going for it than some. Restore it, and put it on a tour, or in a museum, but do not just let her die like this.

The sad part of that is that even if you DID pull off getting five bucks out of every member here, that would still be only about a fifth of what it would cost to properly restore a Forward Look car to factory fresh. Especially one that needs everything like that poor car does. That may even be a conservative estimate. NOS Forward Look parts are near impossible to find and you can't just call Year One or Harden's and order up most everything you need. Restoring a Forward Look car makes restoring a Hemi Cuda like restoring a '69 Camaro.
A $60K donation to the restoration fund from all of the members here would be nice. Count me in for twenty bucks if it happens. Five from me and five from each of my three old school Mopars to see one of their older sisters brought back to life.

It really makes me wonder how much is rust and how much is red dirt. Look how the front bumper shined up!! Engine and interior are complete garbage now, but the body may not be all that bad. I guess we'd have to wait to see more pictures.
Does it at least roll or had the brakes locked as well?

Too bad the car ended up in such poor shape.
Sure would be nice to see her end up in a museum or display - either restored or unrestored.
....Nice cars those....

I think they should restore it the same way that people restore other valuable cars that are total basket cases. That means thousands of man hours, body swap, whatever it takes. I don't see this car as any less important than cars that are supposedly worth millions of dollars.
And after it is meticulously restored, it should be buried again (with a new time capsule), except this time it should be done right. Then it can be unearthed for the 150th anniversary to start the process all over again. That way, each generation can contribute to the history of the car, and there will always be people alive with a personal stake in the car. Otherwise, everyone who had anything to do with it will eventually die and it will become just another museum piece. If you did this every 50 years, people old enough will remember the last time it was unearthed, and some of the people who helped will still be around no matter how old the car becomes.
I am telling you from experience, it is not worth it with a high profile car such as this. There will always be the people that see cutting up the car to preserve it as wrecking it and the end product being just a 'clone' of what it was.
The car should be sealed in an airtight glass display case of sorts. Without oxygen the rust will stop.
