My deaf coworker has shown me what a super power it can be. Imagine going to a car lot and being able to shut off your hearing. Never hearing the salesman and being able to ignore him or her and not even notice it because they are oblivious. He was telling us a kid it was impossible for kids to bully him because he was so good at snubbing (unknowingly to them ) they would just get annoyed and give up. Ever get distracted by white noise, or any other annoying sound? All you have to do is shut it off with a switch of your hearing aid. The chatty guy or gal on the airplane switch it off and they are gone. What a super power being deaf is!

part of the day was the luncheon on Shelter Island (1/2 mile south of the bacon thing).
part of the day was the earlier funeral at Fort Rosecrans for the Navy veteran / fellow club member. 59 years old.
