Looks like it's time for a restoration on The Trip
Man I dont know how any body could return one of those altered wheelbase cars back to a stocker...it kills me, they look so awesome and I cant see erasing a cars history. I wouldnt cut up a good car to make one though.

This one was legendary in the Pittsburgh/Eastern Ohio area back in the day. At one point, it had won 16 straight weeks at Quaker City Dragway, in an old Super Stock / Stock combo they used to run, before brackets. It has since been restored.

That car is still the way Carl Schodde sold it. Same paint, etc., Motor was freshened though I believe.

In later years, Carl had it painted by the legendary "Greg" of Akron, the same guy that did Yowell's Duster and a lot of the heavies of the time.
The current owner restored it back to original, I think. It is still one of my favorite cars, and Carl is one of my favorite people of all time.

You are backwards. The "Greg" paint was first and then the current paint.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.
We raced Carl at Quaker City quite a lot during the 65-67 time period, and had the paint the car wears now, the gray/with dark sides. That is the original paint. He won sixteen combo races in a row at QCR in 67, beating my cousin's "Lucifer" 64 Hemi Dodge in four finals. Carl "Holeshot" Schodde was unbeatable during that period. I have 8mm films taken at QCR during that time, and it is the orignal paint.
The Greg paint job came a bit later, around 1970. I also have 8mm films of the car winning class at the NHRA Summernationals in Englishtown, with the Greg paint job. Personally, I prefer the original paint. I must just be getting old and conservative.
