Back story - I love wood carvings for those who don't know. Have a number of Tikis and animals I've found as I've traveled through various states. My greatest find was always a hand carved penguin but it eluded me. One day I was checking out Cherie Currie's website (she was the lead singer of The Runaways) and saw she'd carved one for a customer as she does chainsaw carvings. I contacted her about it but the cost was out of my range so I kept looking. Sometime later I found one on Ebay carved by the Ozark Woodcarver which I bought immediately. Then a bit later I found a second one of a different style done by him so I bought it too - great work! Fast forward to someone doing me a big favor by traveling to odd locations and picking up a big car part then sending it to me via bus (maybe this will be a future shipping option for you if you have to send something domestic now that you are familiar with it). This same person seems to have a 40th birthday coming soon... So as a thank you/b-day gift I contacted the Ozark Woodcarver directly and commissioned him to carve me another penguin. But I thru in the weird twist that somehow it needed to have some red/orange hair somehow and left everything else to him, trusting his skills but not knowing what would be made. What he did instead of just making a pengy and painting some hair was to actually research the various species and carve a Rockhopper for the first time. He then added the red/orange touch and sent me pics. I loved what I saw, may have to have him make me one when I can Happy birthday and thanks! How nice is it in person?

It smites me at this very moment...
In other words, very realistic.
It's very cool, and has a perfect home next to Mr. Tiki.
Oh, and it is nice he is looking upwards at the ceiling...I don't know if I could have those Smite-eyes staring at me all the time.

Does he look like a member of the Brady Bunch?
I thought that is what Noah had a boat load of for future PLF Smites.

The only way to properly carve it from a log and get the beak proper I think.
Without going out on limb.

Yep, made sense when I realize how it would have been done.
And is a cool posture for him....makes it easy to glance that way and not feel those eyes staring through me.. (insert SyFy/Chiller movie of the week here)
