Because the Tiger was the ultimate feared German tank of WW2. The King Tiger was tougher and stronger but came in way late and in low numbers. The Tiger struck fear in the hearts of US and Russian tankers due to its superiority.

Watch Kelly's Hero's and see Sutherland say "No way" when he hears Tiger tanks.

I don't admire the cause of course, but I admire the machine itself. I've travelled the country and seen many but the Tiger 1 has eluded me - Aberdeen sent it's Tiger back to Germany for display.


Unless aircraft were available, they broke down mechanically (also seen in Kelly's heroes when they trade gold for the tank), or they ran out of gas, it was in-defensible.

I have German Hetzer, Steyr, 38t, Panzer II, III, IV links as well as a half track wheel. US M3, M5, Sherman, M60, and a few British and Russian links too. Taken much time to collect.


I've used a Panzer IV link, a heat torch, and a floor jack to divot my header to clear my centerlink - if it can carry a 30-something ton tank it can do that.

tigers were pretty monsterous in their day! i never have heard of collecting tank tracks. but that is a cool thing to collect, probably cooler than my kitchen wall clock collection...
