Glove Box
I had the same problem. There is a metal tab in the glove box where a big philips head screw threads thru the fuse box, and into this metal tab.
I'll get you a picture later if someone has not already.
1968 Road Runner right?

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

My '68 (build date 3/22/68) mounts to the dash frame below the radio. Single large philips head screw through box to under dash. Frank

Sorry this is all I have but it looks like the philips head screw goes thru the metal tab first then the box. 69 This is looking seated in the passenger seat.

Just run the one wire to the battery esp if you have a main cut off switch in the Back.
Connect the red and the black amp meter wires together.
Since the MSD it is wired from the inside for your signal wire you can tap off of the brown wire from the ignition switch to the middle of the firewall connector and the Black hot wire (or any other hot wire) from the Amp meter.
