I gave up 5 hp on the engine dyno with my airfilter on vs off.

considering I'm giving up TONS more HP through the accessories, full exhaust, and driveline, the extra 5 lost from the air filter is of no concern.

I have ran a filter for over twenty years now on every car I have raced I have also tested many shapes and sizes of air filters on the engine dynos, the K&N Extreme lids lose power on the dyno but the cars go faster with them on at the track I wouldn't run a car without a air filter now

I have always used an air filter on my cars. Of course I also run mufflers as well.

bought mine direct from Uni filter out in california 2 weeks ago.

As far as I can tell the car runs the exact same ET it did without one.

First time I have ever filtered a race car and not lost ET!

I don't run an air filter on the track. Not enough room. But I stick a small one on there for street driving.

That used to be my approach, too. But I really don't want to take a chance sucking something nasty down into the carb when on the track, either, and have done my best to fit an acceptably-sized filter under the scoop that stays on all the time now.

I run these screen doors, but do wonder what the flow cost is. If I get time I will try it both ways.

I tried a k&n on my car. I went 11.10 with the filter than took it off the next pass 11.20. I was mad so I bolted the filter back on bang11.10 again.

Nope. Patrick at Pro Systems told me that if the car does NOT run faster w/o the filter then the mixture is off. CHIP

the air filter may slow it down but not near as much as running a piece of debris through the engine. i would go to great lengths to run an air filter. personally i don't think you need a oiled gauze type just a basic paper element as big as you can get on it. the one i use is off a GM truck or something but i do have more room in the scoop than most
