Dave W., DRC shows that Warfish lost first round in SS elims to B. Cupp. It doesn't say if it was a no-show or a defeat.

I would find it hard to understand how someone would travel all the way to FL, pay a $250 entry, then not run the eliminator.

believe it. We went down there to do a couple things, we tested the stick car the weekend prior at mooresville. we went to g-ville to run class elims for fun, and to eat at sonnys BBQ. We ate there 4 times, and class got cancelled. I got my trophy cause they gave it to the fast car (ME) and we went back to mooresville. We were there friday night ready to run on saturday. I am not into dial in bracket racing at a national event, it is lame, we are trying to get the bugs out of our stick car, and we made 5 runs in one day in NC, instead of 1 run at g-ville.

Well this is going to be hard to say with my outside voice...but I agree with Charlie....
I love Mopar for cause I grew up with them...when they were worth nothing...and you were looked at like a red haired stepchild for owning one. I actually hate the fact that they are worth so much now
But I just got tired of the dedication of time and money just to stop on the brakes, so you don't get "too much stripe"

So what do you do??...the "Super" classes have some great cars with tons of money poured in them....but then they take all the blood sweat and tears and leave it up to a box to do the racing...Any thing above that takes somebody else's money (and all of yours)
So hats off to the S / SS racers of the world that put up with it and race because they are fun to watch

It is a shame what NHRA did to drag racing - pour the sportsman racer in the tube to support the "show" --- Thanks to Mopar for contributing to the Hemi Shoot-Out - We went to Gainesville on Thursday, to see the real race cars.

NHRA needs a heads-up class for the sportsman racer. I proposed a "Jr. Pro Stock" several years ago, but was told the upper management had no interest. With the new Mustang, Camaro and the new Challenger, you would think the manufacturers would be clamouring for a place to showcase their new cars.

If you like heads up Stockers, check out NHRA Division One's Top Stock and Junior Stock. It is competed at all their National Open events.
Division Three starts the program this year and will feature Top Super Stock at selected events.
It is an unbelievable show!

Billet~
Back when my Ricky and I raced, we raced off of the National Record. We've never held one, but boy did we have a GOOD TIME! Racing sure has changed since then.

Mr. Missle~
I am shocked at your forward approach. I don't really have too many pictures of myself, it was always me behind the camera taking the shots. You shouldn't assume that I am anything you would dream about, I don't assume that you are, anything I would dream about. Anyways, I would like to be valued for my interest and knowledge of the sport, not what I look like. I will sort through some of the old pictures, that I have stored in a shoebox under my bed and I will wait till my neighbor, who works for the State of NC, gets home. She is more computer savvy then I. I will have her help me post one so you can see what a HUNK my Ricky was.

LO23~
Thanks for asking, when I sort through and find a good one of the cuda I will post it. Most of our pictures were damaged in a water situation when our clothes washer had a pipe burst, it flooded the wash/store room and then some. Our pics, not being much of a scrap booker, were unsorted in shoe boxes on the bottom shelf. All but the box under my bed were ruined, most of those are just special shots of Rick. It is kind of a disappointment especially now that Rick is gone. If I should come across one I will surely post it. My mother may even have one.
The class we ran was modified production, mostly and it seems like we ran gas sometimes too. As for the car it was a stick car, I mean really what else is there?

Thanks for the picture Stella. Looks like Ricky was a nice looking fella. Working on a big block Cuda. In the early 70's I was driving a 68 Road runner and was about to graduate from High School.
