Ok, so my son goes to the track last night with his RR. After a few runs, he notices his headlights are not working. All his other lights are working. When the headlight switch is pulled on, the fender mounted turn signals light up...never did that before. With the lights "off", using the turn signals results in one flashing like it should and the other one dimly flashing at the same time. I also notice that it seems to be charging more than "normal", but when I pull the lights on it drops the charge considerably. Also, when I pull the lights on, the gas gauge starts to climb towards full. With the lights pulled on, the turn signal indicators and high beam indicator is lit, solid. I have disconnected the high beam switch, same status. I've disconnected the turn signal harness, same status. I've disconnected the headlight harness and the turn signals still do their craziness. HELP!! WTH is going on? I've also swapped out the voltage regulator with a known good one...same crap. Any ideas?!?! I'm lost... ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif)

And make sure you have all the needed grounds in place...Engine to firewall ground{passenger side head to firewall}, forward light wiring harness to body{rad support at battery}which is the one I'd be looking real hard at along with the neg cable lead...Steering column ground wire.....And all running lights/turnsignal indicators properly grounded...
Ok, so I went out and messed with it and noticed the problem was only forward of the cabin -- tail lights and rear side markers were good. Front markers - zip. Front sides - zip. Head lights - zip. Turned out to be a broken ground wire to the front light harness. GROUNDS GROUND GROUNDS!
Thanks ALL!

I still think there's a problem, but I think it's the battery going bad. When running, it seems like the alt is charging more than it should. I checked the battery's voltage and it's about 12.9v, so it's not bad, yet.

Okay, so the issue is with stuff that is forward of the firewall connector, and the charging system, which runs through this connector twice and has known issues. After you do the grounds, check the voltage drops on the main power feed from the Alt, through the bulkhead, thru the AMP gauge, back thru the bulkhead and to the battery. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif) Oh, and check the grounds ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif)
