It depends.

What transmission? With or without A/C? Do you have the original carb? If yes, what is it?

I dont think you understand the question 69 Coronet,he is just wanting to know the engine color of the 383-4bbl.Im pretty for sure its hemi orange. But cant gurantee.I know I have seen pics of some of those cars with blue engines in them, but didnt pay attention to what they were, more like a 318,could have been a 383-2bbl.car.If you dont get a direct answer here head over to www.1970chargerregistry.com and ask them, they will for sure know, and register your car there while you are at it.Chris

All 1970 383 4bbl cars are VIN-coded "N" & all 1970 383 4bbl cars are NOT painted orange!

short answer - "It depends."

Broadcast sheet will indicate which carb was originally installed, and lead you to the correct color for the engine. Chrysler Blue vs. Street Hemi Orange. More info is needed, what do you know about your own car?

If it's a manual transmission without A/C then you have the 087 engine assembly which is the orange 335 horse engine.

(Vinyl top delete )

All '70 383 4bbl Chargers with 4-speed manual transmissions had Holley carburetors and were painted "street HEMI orange".

No such thing as "vinyl top delete" the vinyl top was a $100.00 option on any '70 Charger.

Does your car have a 22" or 26" radiator opening?

I meant to say no vinyl top, sorry

I see so many 2nd gen chargers with vinyl tops I almost think they came standard

now you are making me work, aren't you?

383 manual - E & B-body - with ECS (N95).......... orange HP engine 335hp
---------- Holley R4217-A ----------part number 3418 537 on b'cast 37
383 manual - E & B-body - w/o ECS................... orange HP engine 335hp engine on b'cast 084 wA/C & 087
---------- Holley R4367-A ----------part number 3418 536 on b'cast 36
383 Manual - E & B-body - w/o ECS & with "fresh air" (N96). orange HP engine 335hp
---------- Holley R4736-1A ----------part number 3512 964 on b'cast 64
383 Manual - E & B-body - with ECS (N95) & with "fresh air" (N96). orange HP engine 335hp
---------- Holley R4738-1A ----------part number 3512 974 on b'cast 74

I recall making this list of the 1970 383 4bbl carbs - here are the manual transmissions 3 and/or 4 speeds - All Holley - All ORANGE
It seems all that mattered was ECS vs. non-ECS & N96 vs. non-N96

You need to head over to the 70 charger registry, they wil give you a definate answer. Some of these guys might be right but dont play the guessing game.As the guy stated before,n-code,thats the 383 magnum motor,no matter what carb or tranny or whatever im pretty for sure the engine should be orange.

So, once again, "it depends".

Nope. V08 means it was not a recommended color combination.

A vinyl top was an option, so it could not be ordered, then deleted, that would be silly.

That cant be right for chargers because all 440 were only put in rt cars and I know they were orange.

my dad's charger (69) was a 383 4 bbl dual points (he thinks) with auto and a/c - it was blue

but he also remembers going to get new brake shoes for it and had a really hard time, ended up getting ones for "318 cars", not a BB charger according to the parts store
