Scott Koffel has just recently built a T/S headed engine that has some mind boggling numbers.
Try 3hp per ci.
The owner of this engine is supposed to post his numbers, but as of now, still hasn't.
I know Scott would like to share this, but is letting the customer post it.
Anyway.... Stay Tuned...
Chris..
chris can that be N/A?! wow wow wow if it is!

I wish there was a Mopar head to do this with, but there just isn't right now, and not enough bore space either so it is what it is.
[ There is , its called Hemi99 heads. Now I wish there was a tall deck block for those heads.
But like you said with no block, there is no head. I love mopes, but 1200 single 4 combos NA are going to cost a chunk, to say nothing of reaching what a Thor headed Ford can do in very short order with way less effort.
I still say like others have, build a tough motor and spray it. It'll last longer and make better TQ, and be faster for less effort and money.
The block issue really is'nt that big of a deal, imho. No it wont look like a mopar block, but you can only take the long skirt idea so far. It would be a GMish type block that MP has sold in their catalogs for mnay years for their Mountain Motor program. Thats all you would need for an 800 ci mopar making over 1500 hp with 2 doms..you could always destroke it and stick a 1x4 sheet metal intake on it.

well, all I can say is if he's making 2.9-3 hp per inch he needs to stop doing what ever he's doing now and build only prostock motors from now on because they can't do it with the best, latest, parts available on earth.
don't ya just love it when someone says exactly what you're thinking

wait, don't NHRA pro stock do 3hp/ci??
The smaller the motor the higher the ratio with same head flow. just like in F1. (18,500 rpm though)

I was thinking more like the NHRA version block, 4.90 bore centers but a tall deck. I think the IHRA block was like the Ford motor.

The IHRA Hemi 99 stuff was 5" bore space. Rick Jones ran one for a season or two. I think John Kasse built his engines. I have heard rumors that ICH owns the 5" BS stuff now. That would make the power you're looking for. Bob

Don't be such HATERS..
It's funny how the Mopar crowd can't seem to believe that something is possible if they haven't seen it before. This is troubling. But you can believe every hp number that the other brands throw at you.
Scott is one of the hardest working engine guys in this country. I'll bet he sometimes works 90hrs. a week. Lots of R&D there. If and when the numbers are posted, the haters will say it is a happy dyno.. Oh well, nothing you can do about that. It's like Charlie Westcott, He obviously makes extraordinary power, therefore the jealousy factor. He must be cheating.. There is probably much much more new development to be had with Mopar stuff, merely because there are fewer talented guys trying R&D with this stuff. So maybe Scott stumbled on to something or it is a freak....NOT... There was a lot of thought that went into this one.
BTW I said "T/S" head not M/C or PSO.. Read before you say..

No one is bashing Koffel, I don't know him but everyone I talk to seems to really like him. I like Mopars, but I'm not only Mopar, I like and work with all brands, so I'm not stuck in one frame of mind. What I am saying is that an all out prostock effort at 500 inches isn't there yet, so like I said if he can do 3 per inch in this context he should close his doors to the public and build PS motors. That's what I'd do. This thread started on building a 1200 hp single 4, now were talking about 3 per inch.
Yeah an indy motor would also be a terrible drag motor too, and they make great power per inch, but my lawn mower makes more tq.

Some of these B-1 M/C Dyno numbers are entertaining at best .Dont get me wrong the B-1 Head can make some good power but I find the numbers a bit high.Maybe some of the big guns will come to the MILAN Heads-up races we have on the frist friday of the month to show off all this horse-power.I would enjoy that for sure.
Have you finished up any PSO stuff yet???
I'd like to know the potential. I would eventually look into building one.
